This is the continuing build of THE BLACK TAXI a 1998 xr6 vct manual, mods so far are ported head,3 inch system, cold air intake, pod filter,TSI computer, walbro pump, and thats about all for the power side of it it was dynoed at a lame 196 hp at the wheels (highest reading of three dynos) when it was tuned after the cylinder head was ported and re fitted. Its got the stock ticky t5 and is on its third clutch since i have owned it,also the stock 3:45 irs rear.I fitted a black leather vct fairlane interior and a custom black suede hood lining, it has a pioneer head unit two four channel pioneer amps bridged to two sets of pioneer splits, one boston 12 inch sub is powered by a 300 watt rms mtx mono block. It has 20 by 8.5 inch rims with federal tyres and it has custom super super super low suspension, the paint is stock black and is ratty but cleans up good enough. The cars best 400m time was 15 flat with 20 s on and a stuffed clutch plate but managed a 95 mph. With a new clutch it went slower and struggled to do 92 mph,it then had a stuffed pressure plate and now has both. the next mod will be the clutch with a new set up, and the car is in bits now in the shop waitng for me to put it together with the new clutch.

Yeah the truth is the rims grew on me i was ready to swap to some sportier 18s but the 20s are on the limit of being not to gangster.I have the clutch kit ready now and i also have a new balancer i forgot to say that while trying to kill the old NPC clutch i spun the balancer off and the belt flew off and smacked the fan belt cover thats what started the new mods, i also have the new cat ready.and a belt and a balancer.

The pod before it was covered,i put it as close to the high beam light as i could and sealed as much as possible so it only sucks from the whole were the headlight used to be this mod and the ba snorkle and 3 inch intake have been the best performance mods so far, better then the head port,

well got the ceramic button clutch in today feels pretty good, while it was apart found a few things that needed attention so it took a little longer than usual, also did the balancer and fitted a new belt. The car is very smooth now and the clutch is a credit to the guys who built it thanks to NPC in brissy for my second NPC clutch (hopefully last in this car) It turns out the clutch fork had come loose by pulling the bolt out of the bell housing,so that is why the clutch felt over adjusted and was totally destroyed.Any way all sorted now and i will drop it down to NPC and get them to check the adjustment, the clutch is very good i thought it would be heavy and have a bit more shudder but so far i am very impressed,so the next mods are....... in order of importance
*finish the exhaust 3 inch cat and a better tail pipe
*mod fuel rail and fit pressure reg
*rebuild front brakes and suspension bushes
*put the other motor in
*finish interior
*finish boot install
*get decent sub box
*maybe cv shafts

So i got 4 new federals,a new rim,a new toe link, and the front rear bars and boot lid resprayed, also debadged and the red stripe changed to chrome, today i also fitted an adjustable fuel reg and i have almost finished the boot trim,i will post some pics soon.

Just looking at my mods list,i have done the brakes and front suspension,i used those nolathane fully adjustable uppers the ones with the bolts instead of shims, and super pro lowers, new rotors, new wheel bearings, new ceramic pads, rebuilt callipers, and i did the reg today,i am on my third sub box (dont go there) and almost done the boot.So new list would be
*finish boot
*fit 3 inch cat
*finish interior
*put motor in
*fit lower LH rear ball joint (bush) not cv like i thought
WATCH THIS SPACE I AM GOING TO FINISH THIS THING
