Preface: Lost my job about a month ago. Had to quit due to doing both knee's crawling through peoples sub floors and roofs looking for termites 60 hours a week for almost 2 years. The boss refuses to accept liability and made it a speedy stop to any privileges of my job that I could use to help myself out. Turns out Carma's a b**ch..... The secretary forgot to end my weekly wage deposit ( pissy $530 a week) for 2 weeks after my official work end date and now the EPA is on his back due to his brother who works for him spilt a s**t load of chemical down a drain ( Jameson creek Wentworth falls now f**k for atleast 25 years). Now the EPA s**t means because I was there ( and saw it) I am in the middle of it, not to mention the specialist for my knee's is costing me $190 a visit on sickness benefits and I have a letter stating I must repay the 2 weeks undeserved ( my a**) wage within 30 days. f**k that. EPA I can handle, they know everything anyway because he spilt it in the middle of a over 55's strata complex and everyone saw. The $190 a visit is manageable because I am on not much less than what that f**k wit was paying me, and the repayment in 30 days of those 2 weeks wage....... Well he can have it back at $10 a week. The legal advise I have received is to let it go to civil court and then counter claim for the almost 2 years of overtime never paid to me ( I have 2 diary's full of proof).
Now, Pest control is one of the worst jobs anyone could do. On par with being a d**k shaker for Panthers leagues club toilets. But its REALLY good money. All I need to start making money is wheels, a golf driver from salvo's, a golf ball and a torch. Now I have over a grand from the former boss and there was a ute for sale on Ebay that looked good for $600 starting price, so I bit. Ended up winning it for $820, bit more than I wanted to spend but I got caught up in sticking it to a fellow bidder.1986 D21 Nissan Navara 2wd. Z24 engine (2.4L inline 4), auto ( bugger), dual cab with a canopy and 3 months rego. Drove down to Sydney to collect it to find the owners an Arab. Even worse there is another bloke there who is collecting another car and I have 3 screaming kids who just want to go home. The Arab thing, I have worked for Arab's and I know what they are naturally like. But I still get screwed......Kind of. The car's a piece of s**t. Speedo was out and I had to nurse her home. This things OLD SCHOOL mechanics and parts are cheap as s**t....thankfully
Its a credit to Nissan that she even got here. Contact points burnt right through and not gaped. Dizzy cap/rotor buggered, 2nd jet not opening, wrong alternator put on (pulling the water pump on an angle), a disk pad covering a huge rust hole in the rocker cover, thermostat missing and auto slipping.
Rust wise she isn't bad. There is some at the base of the A pillar's but only bad surface rust, some on the firewall joint point with the inner guard and surface ruse here and there. Drivers bonnet hinge was rusted through but its already been replaced. All door window rubbers are rooted and so is the windscreen. Front disks are shot and the wrong tires were put on the stock 14" rims.
So far I have replaced the rocker cover ( painted Ford light blue due to left over from the Ef) and gasket, painted the air cleaner assembly black to freshen the bay up, replaced the drivers bonnet hinge, replaced the points/condenser/rotor button/ dizzy cap, cleaned the plugs, changed the oil/air/fuel filters, replaced broken overflow bottle and washer bottle, replaced the speedo and replaced the front indicators/parkers. I also won a set of 4 Sunrasia 16" rims with half decent tires for $40 off ebay, factory fitted was 195/14's and these have 205/16's so the speedo will be out but I will try to fix that as she has gotten a 3" lift from the 205/70/14's and they look awesome. I have Coolant and trans fluid sitting here, but waiting for an auto service kit to arrive and just found out the thermostat housing is rooted so she sits with no coolant in her till the one I got off ebay arrives. I have the right alternator ready to go in when the coolants done. I have a workshop manual in the mail and when that arrives I will see if the carby is rooted due the previous owner stuffing with it or if it needs a service kit. She wont open 2nd jet and is idling high. Once the engines running I will get some front disks and pads for her as they are rooted with the worst one being drivers side with a huge groove taken out from what looks like possibly a rock. Suspension and steering is fine, there is a new timing chain and water pump on her and the diff sounds strong..... and that's it.
I have till mid December to get her ready for pink slip and all the time in the world due to my knee's to fix it. I got a decent tax return thanks to Ranga and so did the Mrs but I don't know if its going to be enough with everything else needing cash. Worst case it will just need to be ready for Blue slip, but I hoping it doesn't get to that. I won a sports bar off ebay ( genuine Nissan) for $20 and have cleaned up the canopy ready for sale, that should bring in some extra cash.
Here's the ebay listing, sorry for the long one but more pic's to follow and any constructive Navara advise would be good

Front doors....
Cant help myself... already started on sound options. Fusion 4" fit nice on plates supplied with speakers ( left over from old Xg) and the 6" Pioneers are shot. Turns out the doors have a perfect speaker box inside that area. I chucked some audiophile deadening material in for better sound

Money that didnt need to be spent. Found this in Jb while waiting for scotts auto to deliver the Ef's VRS kit. Was originally $169, then in the clearance bin for $119, but they had 30% off car audio so I got it for $83.

And the b**ch still sits......
Went to replace the alternator only to find the previous d***head owner had also used larger bolts to mount the wrong alternator in and in turn f**k the thread on the mounting bracket. I am still waiting for the replacement to come in the mail. Was to be here Friday but we got snowed in. Its also a crap time for posting items seeing its close to Christmas, the thermo housing took a week from Brisbane.
Got the speakers done. All covers/grills are painted Saturn black with chrome painted on the underside of the grills, the chrome kind of makes the grills sparkle and still look black. Ran all new speaker wires through the factory lines to keep it looking clean, but I am waiting to give her some power so I can check constant/ acc wires. I dont trust the last guys mental state, nor his mechanical skills so I want to be sure so I dont blow the new player. Speakers do look nice though.
She wont be getting registered by the due date, so I have a project. The Ef just had a tickford head installed and a few days later my front suspensions dropped. The whole suspensions not been the best since I have owned it in the last 12 months and the constant road works up here have just degraded the front struts and springs........ So theres a cool grand gone and in turn the cash I had to get the Navara registered.
I told my missus that seeing I can get the rego on the Navara its getting a 5L. The thing weighs 1300kg, Id be dead in a week.
I reckon leave the 2.4L, tinker with the carby, advance the timing to 8 or 10 and maybe shave the head. Gears are spot on as she cruises at 110 right on 2000rpm. Yes its low for a 4 cylinder, but the donk just feels like it needs a kick in the a**. Also tossing up decompressing the head with a small turbo and Webber carby.
