Hey guys,

As the EB has long been destined to be my large cammed weekend fun car, and to be resprayed, i decided to get a daily. I wanted something old, and something "big ford". I was looking at XR sedans, and old Lanes, and this came along at the right price.

Image

Its a '79 P6 (or FB) Ford LTD. It is factory fitted with a 4V 351C, 4 barrel carter (now has holley 600) FMX auto, and 9" LSD. It has air con, electric seats and windows, f**k heaps of courtesy and reading lights, 4 wheel disc and leather trim.

Unfortunatly the leather trim is a bit worse for wear, so it'll be simply retrimmed by me out of velour for now, as i have a spare interior.

The body has had 99% of the rust cut out of it by previuos owner, and it is dead straight. Remaining bits for me to fix were to weld in the new front passenger floor peice (done) and the strip underneath the taillights. Its very close to paint, i am painting it in the BF colour "EGO"

The engine is perfectly healthy and runs flawlessly, but the trans is pretty stuffed. I have the parts to rebuild this, and while its out i'm going to do the heads up for lpg anyway. It'll be running straight lpg using a impco 425 gas carb.

Suspension wise, it'll end up bagged, but while missus wants a house, for now it'll just be slammed on springs. Rolling stock will be 15" steels with chrome hubcaps, dress rims, and white walls. Rear venetians will finish the old school look nicely.

I scored literally a 1000 spares with it, including a spare set of glass and doors, 2 interiors, 3 fronts, 3 rear sets, 4 sets of taillights, 2 full sets of stainless and chrome trims, and heqaps of other s**t like door handles, electric window regs, etc.

Now, a few more pics.

And i thought i had a welded in pic, but oh well.

This will be a PIMP daily.

Andrew.

gonna look very tough me thinks....

also, that cam you bought is very cranky untuned, but suprisingly very driveable when it is tuned. Fuel economy was great as well.

In other words the Eb could be used as a reliable daily as well.... unlike the cam i just bought .....likes to bunny hop anything under 2000rpms, but it haasnt been tuned yet

Haha! I have been waiting for this build thread to hit the garage! nothing more fun than building up a big ford from the ground up!
I had a 78 LTD and it was a truly luxurious car to drive.....like cruising around with your loungeroom on wheels
Can't wait to see the day this old girl hits the streets again.
Good luck with the build Andrew.
Cheers,
Mick

Thanks Monty,I know the Coon will not be that bad, but i'd rather the old girl as a daily. I work on the dirtiest street in the world, and don't want to desrtoy the Falcon anyway. Plus as a daily, the LTD is way more comfy.

Thanks mate, Gots pics of yours? Indeed it is a loungeroom on wheels, very spacey, haha.

Hopefully will be on the road by mid january. As money comes in from wrecking my drift car, i am purchasing the few parts she needs. I have everything needed to get the paint on, just time now, but ive been hitting it up every saturday for a while now. :)

There are a few pics of the old girl in the "mick's fords" thread in my sig. I still miss this car....never should have sold her

Ah yes thats right, i just had another look in there, i even posted about it! haha, dam my memory.

My old ZC had the staff car stance, The colour i'm going for on this one will more follow that same path i guess, until its bagged, then it'll be pimp. :D

Not sure whether this is good or bad yet, but the front electric setas were stuffed bad in this one from sitting in a wet shed, so i'm fitting a flip down bench seat instead. I like bench seats in the older ones anyway.

Thanks mate, yes they are quite good to drive for an older car, very comfy and cruisy. I agree, more classics on the road!!

Tomorrow i should be finishing the floor off, and cutting out the last rust in the rear section, so i can take the piece to work and make a new panel to go in. Its a tricky one to make, but i have the gear to do so at work.

As all the tyres keep going down too, i'll put the EB's 15's on it, which'll probably stay there for the roady too, as i have some mont rims for the EB to go on on saturday.

Stay tuned classic lovers.

Indeed, considering the amount of spares i got with it, and 95% of the body done, score!

Yeah i reckon ego will look real gangsta, i've thought about it heaps, and i think it'll suit it to a tee.

Tomorrow will have more pics of quality rust repair.
