The turbo idea is good but being 20, I'm still a few years off getting one on the car. But yeah I have looked at maybe a gt35/40 or even Snorts twin turbo setup :wink:

If your going to spend $4500 you might aswell get a snort kit and your gains would be alot higher. FTP, paint the cooler black! :P

Havent posted much about the car lately so decided it's time for a progress report....

I managed to pick up a MGW T5 short throw shifter for the XR thanks to Tragilgas. As those who have one know, getting to the front two bolts are a pain in the a**.

So to get the bloody thing in, the tranny was dropped the Shifter was installed and the tranny was re-installed. However, then I realized that the stock gear knob didnt fit onto the MGW shifter.... I decided that i'd have to make a ghetto knob for the time being. So I ended up welding some random scap metal to an appropriate sized nut and away we go!

I ended up buying a proper knob the other day though, after getting sick of trying to change gears with that s**t gear knob lol!

I was given a Wade 1521a from a mate ( which has kinda stuffed up my plans with CVE...) but in true e-series fashion I couldnt refuse a freebie!

So my plans are to chase up:
* 115lbs Valve Springs from Crow
* Pre-Programed J3 from Jason at TI
* Verneir Gear from RollMaster

As mentioned my plans with for CVE work has been put on hold for now, due to $$$ and tossing up just getting the head worked by Flow Craft. Or even chasing up a 2nd hand worked head someone is getting rid of.

Lately I have also been looking at getting rid of the EL XR seats for some leather BA XR's, still doing my homework on the conversion but looks like it will be my next mod.....

With just the wade cam in I'm hoping for 150rwk. With Head work 170RWKW would be really nice, but we will see how it goes.

Ah that sucks. Well not far off anyhow. Good time to start gathering parts ;) so that by the time you are on your opens you'll have a completed or almost complete boosted e series haha.

In the end though the goal is for as close to 350rwkw as possiable or at least an 11 second car but we'll see how it goes....

I ordered New Valve Springs for the XR Last Thursday, I ordered the Part No. 7332-12, which are the ones inbetween the XR and Doubles.

The Specs of the 7332-12 is:
Installed Height - 1.820"
Installed Pressure - 115lbs
Pressure @ .5 Lift - 275lbs
Max Lift - .650"
Solid Height - 1.100"

However, when I received the Springs the Spec sheet read;

Installed Height - 1.750"
Installed Pressure - 120lbs
Pressure @ .5 Lift - 280lbs
Max Lift - 0.650"
Solid Height - 1.100"

After a chat with Wade we worked out these springs will work, however it is dissapointing that Crow didnt supply the correct item I specifically asked for, especially since they were so good at sending the springs to me ( delivered by courier free of charge within 24hrs ) .

I am moving house in the next few weeks and will need the car for towing, but the next step is to give the head to CVE and get it worked, get CVE to install the 1521a ( supplying locks, retainers and verneir gear ) and finally a tune with a J3. Only issue is that I don't have a gararge at the new house and the car will be exposed to the elements without the head on it...

Since most people seem to junk the Wade cam before properly tuning it, I will be interested to see what kind of power I can acheive with it. I would be very happy with around the 170RWKW mark but how I get who knows.

Insurance is the only issue with getting all of the work done, since I'm still on my P's AND have an XR insurance is already $1500 per annum unmodified. So I have to work something out so I don't have to pay through my a***. Maybe Club Plates? Take my name off the Insurance and put it in my old man's?

why don't you get a second hand head and rockers and get that done while yours is still driving.
Then when it is all ready you can do a simple changeover.
