I've got a little time right now & I thought i'd post up an engine bay shot of the EB Ghia - yeah it's dirty, it's a daily drive so it's never spotless clean, like my mighty boy's engine bay, but i do clean it from time to time. Most of the mods i've done are after reading about them on here, except the EF fuse conversion, i haven't read about that on here. Had to do it due to melted fuse links & Anyway, here's the pic......
Attachment:
P1010039.JPG

In this pic you can see some of the mods i've done under the hood, and the LPG Injectors sitting on top the manifold - with the blue lines at the bottom of them.

# PoliAuto/Autogas Italia Easyjet Lpg Injection system, the first EB to be fit with this system
# Xh ute snorkle & EA airbox to TB pipe
# EF Thermo fan conversion - need to tidy up & hide wiring loom one day, but it works perfect!
# Pacemaker 4499 extractors, can't see the VS commy cat
# EF Plug in fuse link conversion - needs to be made neater, but works perfect.
# White EF alternator to battery & fuse panel cable - needs to be hidden as well.

Once i'm finished panel beating the white Xr8 & have it on the road, i think i need to turn my hand to tidying up this engine bay a bit. I know it doesn't look all that presentable under there, but it goes hard, what counts the most in a daily drive. Mighty boy's engine bay is much easier to keep clean, it doesn't see many kms on the road.

Somewhere i have a list of all the things i've changed or have been changed on the car since it left the factory, and it's about 1 A4 page long lol.

Anyway, should be time for bed soon, got a long day tomorrow, lots of little odd jobs & getting roof insulation installed as well.

Cheers

This thread will be a good read mate :)

That mighty boy build is interesting, is a 3 cyl car cheaper to register than a 4 cyl?

I got up to get a drink, thought i'd check my email & found replies to my thread. :D

huggiebear -> It does look very neat indeed! Did you get the distribution blocks from Jaycar?

Yeah i should neaten up those wires. Most of it was done to make things work at the time, without regard for being too neat, a lot of that wiring was done when the mighty boy was off the road due to complete loss of comp on #2 and very low comp on 1 & 3. It was off the road for 11mths, until i had time & $$ to rebuild the engine. I had issues with the fuse links melting & taking a lot of wiring with it, so i repaired it & got it working, but not very neat. But the time has come to do something about that, don't worry. The car had some bad wiring repairs done in the past that decided to haunt me for a while. Altho that wiring is not very neat, it works ok.

The front bar needs to come off to repair it soon enough, and while it's off i'm thinking about pulling the headlights out, and relocating the relays & fuses for the thermo fans. It would be a good way to use some time waiting for the fiberglass filler to set.

Xr-Lane -> I'm not so sure on rego pricing down here in Vic, but the mighty boy is only about $20 cheaper than my EB Ghia 6cyl to rego. :( It should be half due to half the cylinders i reckon.

Mighty boy build will get more interesting when i get the EFI mounted & running. I've drawn up some plans as to where i'm going to mount the ECU, a MegaSquirt, and where i'll be running the wiring to hide most of it away. It all takes time.

Anyway, i better get back to sleep. Cheers

i got mine from autobarn a few years back and had them laying about.. i cant stress enough about using atleast 4g wire... i had 8g at first and resulted in a melted distroblock...

i run the amp straight from the battery, but the altenator return feed is still to the block. but the 4g seems to be able to handle the 110 amp, id say the motor and ECU takes most of the power before the rest returns to the battery, never had an issue with battery dieing so far and its been over 12 months

you dont understand how the government works.. if we say the rego should be half due to it being half the cyl's they will just put the price up for 6cyl...

Far out man. Reminds me of the pos battery cable, mine rubbed on the steering rack, broke thru, when i started the car it set the oil & grease that collects there on fire! I had an extinguisher and put it out without any damage to the car, but man, was scary!

I went digging for a pic of the torry - found this pic of my EF alternator, zoomed in you can see the thread insert that i did for the EB.

Here's a torry pic that i found. The rebuilt Garret T04 turbo.

Torry is looking a bit like this atm, but this pic is over a year old. Only minor work to the panels has been done since this pic, all the minor work that takes hours upon hours to do....

That's cause it is the same pic lol. I haven't got any more recent pics. I'll take some soon, gotta get it out of the shed to use the drill press soon.

Cheers

It's been a couple of days, so i thought i should throw up an update.

I have cleaned up the black plastic trims that sit behind the rear seat & cover the shocker towers and fit them into my Ghia - it has never had them since i've owned it. Also fit the passenger side boot trims as well, was missing these too. Not to interesting, but just little things that make the car a little nicer.

Been uploading some pics to facebook for my friends, and found a couple of some work i did on the pano's rear brakes a couple of weeks ago. The rear wheel cyl's were rusted up & didn't work. I bought new cyl's, new shoes & had the drums machined a while ago, so i decided to get it out of the shed & fit the new gear. Was also a good chance to clean all the crap out of the back of it too. I also have new tailgate "wires" to keep it from hanging all the way down, but i have NFI where i have put them atm, probably in one of the white plastic crates full of car parts i have.

It currently has the standard rear springs in it, old shockers & in need of new bushes & shackle kits. I have a set of 1ton springs, pair of new shackle kits & new shockers to fit to it, as soon as i clean the rust off the leaves & spray them up. I dunno what color to spray them. Shocks are red, so i suppose maybe i should just paint them black?

I plan on spraying the van a dark blue. So, anyone have any idea's on the springs, what color?

I also have a set of VH commodore rear disc brakes that i could have fit, but i'm looking at the option of trying to fit them to my fine spline banjo diff i have for my torry.

Cheers

I can tell you all that the boot plastic's & the plastic shocker tower covers do indeed reduce road noise a fair bit in the ghia! I have just done a huge trip, My place in Melb to Horsham on saturday morning. Then this morning i drove from Horsham to Bendigo for a b'day lunch, then back to my place in Melb this evening.

Average fuel economy for the trip, with the A/C on and climbing hills, kicking it in the guts hard to overtake when i could, and NOT using the cruise control at all was 9/100 on LPG. Pretty good for a 17 year old EB series 2 5speed. I probably could have it down to the books 7.5/100 if i didn't kick it in the guts at all, lol. Pretty good highway economy for the Injected LPG.

Those figures are taken from distance traveled & filling up the car, counting real usage based on refuel amounts in Horsham, Bendigo & again 2kms from home.

Anyway, i'm buggered, i've had less than 7hrs sleep in the last 2 days, i'm off to bed!

Cheers

ToranaGuy

im not sure if your aware but the E-series onwards, if your at WOT the aircon actually de-activates to allow full power, then as you back off it will kick in again..

Yep, did know that, thanks huggiebear! Even so, i was only at WOT for a some short bursts, otherwise the a/c was cranking the whole trip. What do you reckon of the economy, pretty decent?

Cheers
