Thought i would make a thread for my XF seeing i spend most of my time and money on this car. I came across the car in early april my ed was in the shed stripped down under going body work for the respray and i was thinking about getting a daily. I borrowed my dads ute one day and 5 minutes down the road from my house i see a XF sedan and didnt really think about it on the way home it was still there so i decided to take a look my mate put the number in his phone i went home and had a think not even a day later i rang my mate while i was at work and told him to send me the number that night it was sitting in my driveway :P The guy wanted $1200 firm i haggled him down to $1000 it had only done 135,000k's and sitting on its guts with cut springs and a blown muffler she was a beast  a few nights of ownership and i had a minor bingle luckily at the time my mate was stripping his xf ute.

the night i got it i took a mate for a drive went to get a drink and flat battery the alternator wasnt charging my mates ute come in handy again

After driving around with a white bonnet and gaurd for a while and ripping the exhaust in half on a driveway i decided to raise it up paint the panels and replace the exhaust.

I got offerd a 350 holley wich i grabbed and got myself a redline torker manifold

grabbed a chrome rocker cover off gumtree for $35

then i put the old cut springs back in

no rear springs

found some side moulds that werent stupidly priced

Mocking up the boot install

fitted the chrome rocker cover

and new wheels 14X8 and 14X10 dragwaysImage

I have the bumpers off as i was going to spray them like a ghia but after looking through older pics i like them how they are so im going to redo the black with clear this time and spray the side moulds. Also i am currently waiting for my king springs to come in that i have on order. I also had a cam for it but i was unable to use it as it had some bad pitting in it (second hand).

Future mods
manual convo
finish boot install
fit king springs when the show up
bucket seats

later on
respray
more power

thanks for reading feel free to comment.

spent a little time on the XF today in between fiddling around with the wagon roughly put the side moulds on with masking tape so i could see how they looked and how short i need to cut the one on the rear 1/4 as there off a wagon.

they will be re done in black with a chrome strip to match my bumpers

Image

also when i got the car going a few weeks ago the throttle bush let go when i was starting it for the first time in months (it was being stubborn :P ) thought i fixed it but the next day when i went to put it back in the shed my repair didnt work either  so i got my mig welder out (gasless) and welded a flat piece of steel onto the pedal and 2 washers then cut a thin slit in it so the cable could slide on its bloody strong and shouldnt cause any dramas.

not much happening with this lately still waiting on my springs to turn up apparently its this week sometime. today i thought id start it up and move it out the shed take a few pics need to take a look at the holley seems to have a flat spot also the alternator isnt charging. also a friend gave me a good drivers door the current one on the xf has quite abit of rust in it so that will get sprayed when the bonnet and right gaurd are re done.

Love the Dragways on the XF....They look so much better than those other sets of wheels.

A few small updates.

rear springs settled alittle
Image
chucked the bars on to take it for a run but i was still having dramas with the holley
Image
found out it was leaking around the base and running down behind the linkages so off it comes
Image
gave it a clean up gave some bits a mild polish and painted the rest blue getting a rebuild kit for $68 includes gasketts, needle and seat, power valve etc.
Image
sitting on the car i havent got the kit yet
Image
saw an add for some brand new 265/50 14s for $300 so i grabbed them the ones on the dragways are pretty stuffed they came on 8inch 12 slotters the bloke gave me another 2 8 inch slotters so i now have a full set of those lol
Image
tried one on, not as good as dragways
Image
my little collection of bits for the car

it has been quite a while since my last update and i have done quite abit.

so the Holley was still no good after the rebuild apparently it was sucking in air around the throttle shaft so i bit the bullet and bought another 350
Image
ive got it running sweet in the shed but it ran out of rego a month ago
after a run bloody road works (before reg ran out)
Image
been collecting some parts
Image
Image
fitted the seats
Image
Image
pulled out the dash pad and steering collumn
Image
converted it to tbar auto using a ea/na 3sp shifter
Image
i lost the little rod that goes inside the shifter i spent an hour looking for it so i made one out of a buggerd phillips head screw driver. the one out of my fairlane on the right my creation on the left works a treat to.
Image
na console
Image
fitted the new collumn
Image
next mod
Image
test fitted the new door and started sanding it
Image

I have also picked up another dash pad in good nick ill clean it up and put it in and the interior will be done then its abit on the body. repspray the new door, drivers gaurd, bonnet, front bar, rear bar, bottom of the rear 1/4s once i remove the rust and now the passenger gaurd the paints cracking on the wheel arch and i accidently hit the gaurd moving the welder and chipped the paint
