Absolutely love it! thanks for posting the pics of your XB-It's great to see such an original example, so few remain in looking as they left the factory.

Hello,

That would make the ultimate sleeper. Big block, and blower. If mine, I would fit the R and P steering, GT cluster and have some XR seats trimmed to match. I would also get an original radio for the Knobs, and fit a later am / fm radio with a CD stacker in the boot running a modulator. Get wider steel rims, with good tyres and the the original hub-caps. On the back parcel shelf, a white hat and tissue box. When you humiliate Holden SS drivers, it will mess with their ( small brained ) heads.

My Dad had a ZG, 351. Some idiot in a Holden ( 202 ) tried to beat him at the lights. 3 times he got beaten. Oh, the old man had a Caravan behind !

Nice car, rare to see now. Look after it.

So I had a look today and I think this will work out alright.

Ill make a Stainless steel cradle to mount the head unit like this.

Image

And bolt her up under the dash here.

Image

The handbrake will have a new home under the new head unit cradle, and should not cause it to function incorrectly. I will start work on the cradle on monday at work.

Cheers

Ok, I have been talking with other people on other forums and, I have been talked out of using my NF stereo. I mostly wanted to use it because I did not want to spend money on a stereo when it could be spent on other things for the car lol.

But I still dont really want to put something in that looks too modern.

After a quik search I found this

http://www.retrosoundusa.com/

Any altenitives to this headunit would be good.

Cheers

This is the sort of ride hight I would like for my XB.

Image

I would also like to fill my gards out like the wheels have done on this XA. I know its a bit to ask, but does anyone know just by looking at this pic the width of these wheels are. Im guessing these are 15x8 12 slotters?

Cheers

Judging by the tire sidewall bulge, I would guestimate those are 14 x 7 with 235/60/14 or 245/60/14 tires fitted.

Reasonably common tire sizes.

If it were my car, I would go for something simple like widened E Series chasers in 15 x 7 front and 15 x 8 rears.

Cheers

Cheers Ash, I would be better off if I could get 15s or 16s i reackon.

Update

Well its not much of an update, but I got myself a dashmat for the XB. It might not be everyones cup of tea, but I am a fan of them. They look good and they protect the dash. Image Cheers

If you can find them.....
Get some 15 inch Globe rims.
In the mean time, EF/EL steel rims widened to 15x8 or 15x7.
Crome trims and center cap.
245/50x15 may fit all 4 corners.

Not too much rust from what I have looked at. I may find some horrors later on down the track, fingers crossed I dont.

I just want it to perform as a good daily driver, not sure exactly what direction Im heading with this one yet. Just take one step at a time.

Cheers

Yes a few people have suggested the E series rim widening trick. I have been thinking about widening a set of 12 slotters and increasing the size of them to 15 inch at the same time.

Cheers
