Yeh, probably didn't describe that very well...- all it is is a thing that plugs into the cig lighter (note! it won't fit in a standard XB socket cos they are too deep ! I added an accessory one under the dash) - you set it to an unused frequency on your FM radio and you plug usb sticks in the front of it - it has buttons to jump backward or forward thru tracks etc. Mine cost $25 from Autobarn (Jaycar, d**k Smith etc have them too) - there's much better ones these days that have a display screen, will shuffle thru tracks etc. You'd think the quality would be crap but they are actually really good - if I'm parking I just chuck the whole plug in thing , usb sticks etc in the glovebox, no sign of them to tempt thieves...

Sounds interesting just did a search and came up with this "Car MP3 FM Transmitter w/ SD Card Reade"

Image

I think this is what you are talking about. I think this ia a great idea, the only thing is getting a old head unit with the knobs that has enough power to run some decent speakers. Im not sure how you would connect an amp to old stereo like that.

The other thing would be buying one that does not have the lighter plug on the back of the unit, so it could be mounted where ever. They also come with a remote.
Cheers

Thought I would experiment with the back seat today. I fitted my NF cappa back seat, to see how it would look.

I think it will work, but the side bolsters will need to be trimmed to fit a little better.

I reckon the NF interior is a win, especially if it has some leather or vinyl on it, which lends itself a bit more to looking somewhat like the old interior. Just more comfy. But that's just my thoughts & each to their own.

I love those classic car adds!

Cheers

G'day Stranger! How did I miss this beauty!

Absolutely love the old falcons, and you've done very well indeed scoring this one. Reminds me of my Pops XB. His was orange with the white roof.

Good luck with the build mate, will be watching with keen interest

Cheers,
Mick

I prefer petrol to gas, unless i can be convinced as to why lpg 351 is better? The 351 will be later after I have cleaned up the little dents you cant see in the pics and have done wheels, front suspention and rear brakes, I have heard E series wagon Diffs can be bolted on.

Cheers[/quote]

ea-ed wagon diffs do bolt straight in using ea-ed sedan rear handbrake cables+pull lever
just remember to change master cylinder to suit 4 wheel disks(xe or xf+booster)
xf front stubs with brakes bolt straight on too for easier pad changes
xd/xe tin hats for the floor shift also fit your trans tunnel
good luck with the build, have me missing my 74 302 converted xb now

Hi all, been a while since an update.

One thing I have missed while driving this car is music, and I have trown around a few ideas. But I have made a decision and have ordered a head deck, witch arrived today.

Image

When I seen it I thought thats one of the most plain looking head decks I have seen, out of whats getting arround at the moment. No cd, just a tuner and SD/USB mp3 reader.

Here it is posing for a pic in its soon to be home.

Image

I have found a usefull website for any XB owners that might be interested. http://www.xbfordfalconshop.com/

I bought one of these to make my installation look a little neater.

Image

As for speakers Im just putting a pair of 6inch 160w in the front, and a set of 300w 6x9inch in the rear.

I plan to use theis amp for the rear 300w speakers only. its a NF/NL EF/EL premium sound amp.

Image

Now I need to ask for anyone who knows about these units, if they know if they can power the 300w speakers. I understand that there is more to it than that, but there is no specs on the amp, as it is a factory item and only staped with ford product numbers.

I do know its 4 channel and that the sub for this system was bridged on channels 3 and 4. Should I be able to bridge the 6x9s?

Cheers

I currently have a factory premo sound amp running my Sony Xplod 6x9's that are in my parcel shelf, one per channel, and it runs them fine. I think they are 280w max or something like that. They sound a lot better now they are amplified. I don't use the bridged sub channels atm.

I don't see why you won't be able to use it.

Cheers

Hi all, long time no update.

No real update, just bought a steering wheel second hand from some guy off gumtree.

Image

Got it home and found out the boss kit that came with it was not right. The spline was the right fit, so parted off 20mm from the back on the lathe and made the f**k fit.

Image

I dont think you can see it in that pic, it worked but at the same time brought the wheel too close to the indicator stalk. So I turned up a spacer on the lathe out of Stainless Steel that also doubled as a centre cover. Dont need to worry about the horn, for those of you that dont know. The XB horn is on the indicator stalk.

Works like a charm now.

Also finnished my stereo. Ended up getting some kenwood 3 way 250w 6inch for the front running off the head deck, and kenwood 3 way 350w 6x9 in the back running off my NF Fairlane Factory amp.

Setup sounds good, good enough for me anyway.

Cheers

I get it on the side of the street mate. People come from everywhere to ask questions, make you offers or tell you some childhood memory. I get phone calls too as my business is advertised on the back of the Mustang. Most are harmless but every now and then its a bit odd.

Its all good, I dont mind compliments. I just get a little sick of people trying to pimp their s**t off to me.

You know its like.

Hey I noticed you have standard rims, I have some wheels for you.

It was just my b**ch for the day.
