Drop the mounts by the 10mm.

This was done on Benj's car and was no issues and his driveway was not good. Almost 4 wheel drive territory :D :D .

Ahhh yes i forgot all about the 10mm lower with the mounts which is quite easy

But the k frame mod i am um certain if its a must i have read about someone just grinding a fun of the sump and getting away with it does this sound true though?

Grinding the fins works for the AU Engine into the EA/EB/ED. Even then it is very close and sometimes needs gentle persuasion of the Cross Bar to fit safely. It won't work with the BA Sump.

Here are a couple of pics from Benj's build. You can see how close the sump can sit to the cross bar on the front of the K Frame. You can also see how far forward the bar has been moved compared to a stock K Frame.

Even if you ground the fins, the sump would still hit on the cross bar if not moved forward.

You can see here how far forward the cross bar is from stock.

As long as you know how to weld properly, yes.

If you don't get a tradesman to do it. You don't want it cracking. Not something for the average DIY'er.

If you are an "average" welder, then consider getting a pro to do it.

Not something to stuff around with. If it breaks there could be a serious end to your new ride.

If you are confident go ahead, don't think it is easy. You will need to brace the K Frame before cutting out the old cross bar and ensure that everthing, repeat everything is ground back to bare clean metal.

I have confidence in what I weld because I have the trade papers and the skills to do it, if I wasn't sure of my skills I wouldn't attempt it, I would prep the job and get someone with the skills to do it.

Remember it is part of the subframe rigidity, it breaks, you probably crash.

Sorry to be blunt, but I have seen plenty of people who though things were easy and found out the hard way what happens just trying to save a couple of dollars.

If you go ahead with it yourself and need advice, please ask, myself and others will try and help.

till you get use to it .... go to the pic you want to put up here. when the pic comes up there is a "share the pic" box on the right. click on the box that says "IMG" [no need to right click], go back to what you were doing on ya mod page & paste the link that was copied. you 'may' need to 'shrink' pics coz if they are too big people won't be able to see the full pic when looking at page [they can be 'shrunk' on photobucket page]

hope that helps ya

when you are looking at the pic, there is a little row of icons above pic [to right]. click on the paintbrush & go from there. my pic still looks a bit too large for my liking ie cannot see full pic :?
