Not happy with the mirror, seems to be after market, and "dances" and vibrates round heaps when driving around) I'll put up with it for now, will be putting memory mirrors on later down the track so will get good genuine ones of them.

I got a Little bored Monday and had a can of gloss black vinyl paint, that i purchased and decided to give attacking and painting some trim a go. think it turned out pretty good, still have a few more bits to paint, like the front air vent surrounds, and the last 1 of the dash spears, repaint one of the dash spears (wasn't happy with the finish). Still thinking about doing the Cluster Surround (i have a spare off a HI-series BA XR one that was damaged in transit, will try it with that if i like ill do a good one). im also thinking about doing the windscreen air ducts when the dash comes out. more to come!!!

The Paint i used

Not much been happening lately with the car, other than giving the trimmings in the dash a coat of paint, giving them a hit of clear coat today to really bring out the gloss on them pictures to come once they are all done.

Got a can of vinyl dye to do the roof lining black, can tells me it covers 12-14 sq ft, Definitely going to need another can at least, as long as i get good coverage with the 2 ill be happy as there is a better plan in the future which will include a re-trim and embossing.

Not allot happening lately to the car (lack of work) so funds are a little dry. I did pick up a set of these courtesy lights for the doors cheap $10 each off Ebay, just a shame that they are grey not black so i'll have to change that I wasn't letting them get away and have to pay fords high price for them.

Can anyone with a BA/BF Fairmont ghia or Fairlane get me some measurements from the side of the door card to the light and the bottom of the door card to the light? it would be greatly appreciated if someone could. :)

Well been shopping again (or still) not sure which one, anyway picked myself up another satnav unit mostly for the factory mount and navi amp, didnt have the remote and have to workout the hooking into the dash loom but that can't be that hard. will fit this one first when i finish doing the duel zone conversion (once i get the rest of the parts i need). i also picked myself up the sunglasses holder with a cut of the factory roof lining to include the mount behind and a template to cut the hole.

tried painting the roof lining and didn't get enough cans of dye not to worry plan it to have it embossed and professionally re-trimmed in black in the future.

Been awhile since i posted in here, stuff had been hectic the last few months, last month being the worst, with my Nan being ill and passing, and to add to it my father came down sick fast and things are really not looking good there either, sadly it looks like he won't be coming home from hospital. progress is slow at the moment, work ran short for a bit so haven't been able to get parts. Still need to get RHS and LHS main looms and a "green" BEM. I'm also thinking about trying to get a hold of a fairmont or fairlane navi dash loom, or to make the one i have into a navi one. few other parts to get like memory mirrors but they can come later.

think at this stage it looks better without the remnants of the grille in the hole than it did with it in

Well thought it time to make a bit of a update here. Had the worst start to the year with dad passing on the 1/1/2015. :(

Managed to fine someone willing to get back to me and understood what i wanted, to sell me Body looms out of a car. and at a fair price. its costing me 230 for 4 looms and a window motor.
dash loom left and right body loom and roof loom including all the light from a bf fairmont ghia and the window reg to replace the one in mums car which is playing up intermittantly.

Also picked up a electrochromatic mirror that will be fitted and wired in once i replace the windscreen (i failed at the removal of the old one  ) will put some pics up later of the mirror i havent recieved the looms yet.

i have also been making a navi loom up for the dash side of things, might have to cut up my bf loom for some wires i need, that or thinking another complete dash for a parts loom and a direct change over panel ready to go and put the bf one away for later.

yet another update time :D

I can't recommend this seller i have been dealing with on ebay enough, its probably the best dealing and experience i have had on there contact was perfect, and he actually got back to me regarding my parts.

Monday i made payment for the looms i ordered things were finally ready to go.

today all the parts i had ordered arrived, upon opening the box and pulling the looms out i was greeted by a nice surprise, to find near all the sensors left on the looms for me, wasn't expecting that. not that most of the sensors help me at this stage because i'm not upgrading to full BF (yet  ) but anyway the sensors left on the looms were the YAW rate sensor, the 2 side impact sensors, the antenna module and the park aid module, the park aid being the most handy one.

this afternoons plan is maybe pull my roof loom out so i can use parts of it to add wires for to the GHIA roof loom to put the Electro-chromatic mirror in, maybe make the lights under the visors work both ways too

LHS main body loom hanged out today. broke a few clips that hold it to the body so will have to order some of them soon to replace them. getting the connector through the body of the car up allong sode the dash was a bit painful, have left the tweeter one tied up out the way to be ran properly when i do the dash loom. everything else was easy enough.

have lost sound in my rear left speaker, the speaker was left disconnected for a while after some other work i done in the area. i cant do any test on the ICC as my blue-tooth dongle decided to bugger up today. the speaker tests good @ 4ohms.

will do some tests when i get a new blue-tooth dongle, until then i plan on swapping the rear speakers see if that makes any change.

i decided to use the original antenna module out of my car as the one that came with the looms looked suspect to me, unfortunately it wasn't plug and play and i had to strip the antenna wire from my original loom.

EDIT:
solved the left rear speaker problem, turns out it had something to do with the nut behind the wheel.

i had inadvertently hooked the LR speaker to the sub wire , i have no amp in the car as yet so no damage done all works once hooked up to the right plug

Been thinking about using the BF dash loom with the BA engine bay looms some of the differences i have come across in the C119 connector on the LHS in the Kick panel

Image

RHS KICK PANEL C158

B in this pic, is a ground, tied in with fuse panel connector 331, ground circuit 57CV, which in he ba gives ground to the Traction control switch in the lo series, is also the diagnostics connector grounds.
Image

think i can still use the BF dash Loom and make a small adapter loom to move the few pins that are in the wrong locations, and add the wires that are missing to the locations they are needed

After some thought i think i will source the parts to upgrade the entire car to BF theres plenty of help and support out there, and plenty of written off cars for parts.

having said and thought that the other day i put the ball in motion for the engine bay wiring out of a BF XR6T.

asked for a price on the LHS and RHS that runs up over the rad support was quoted $220 this sounds fairly good to me. :) i also asked about the ABS unit 125 but think i will hold off on that one at this point. Will try and find a BF engine loom for a 4Spd auto so thats plug and play so i hopefully don't have to change boxes. unfortunately the PCM/ecu was gone so no price on that

still yet to get pictures of the looms i got in the last few posts, although the LHS one is installed already.

Little update,

Not much has been happening on the car lately, Still been getting a few bits and pieces.

Picked up some wire loom zip ties to clip the looms i change over in properly, not sure i have enough of them now that I'm thinking of changing the engine bay wiring to BF and changing PCM's and ABS and putting a zf 6 speed in. have to find out some info on tail shaft differences between the zf6 and the btr4 if any.

Installed a reverse camera, just waiting on a temporary screen to use until i get the rest of the gear in and get the little box that lets you have satnav and reverse camera on the factory screen.

Tonight i made up a thing to test for boost leaks in the intake system feeling impatient having to wait until tomorrow for the pvc glue to dry to use it :(

It doesn't look the flashiest but I'm sure it will do the job :)
