$799 for a set of rims where the tyres are worth $500 each brand new, normally leads to suspicion

just cos u paid $500 for the tyres brand new, doesnt meant that u will get your money back on them, i've seen genuine ones (which i presume yours are?) sell for $1000 with basically new tyres, and around the $700 mark rims only.
not having a dig at u mate, just sharing what i have seen around :)

You'd think so, too bad those wheels were hot! !

Nah mate, don't see it as a dig at all, we're all entitled to our opinions.
I don't expect to get back original price, 4 tyres = $2k new, 4 rims = $2.4k new, all up $4.4k new, these aren't new, almost new

Im not asking for everyone to like the price listed... Just to be aware of their value and respect the sale. If the price is too expensive, then I appreciate the time spent looking, and I wish you well...

The deal with the ultra violet light is that similar to the way people write on their electronic goods. It's a special type of pen used. Incase they're stolen, the police scan them to see who's they are. Most people put a driver's licence no. on them.

FPV and HSV, as well as the Euro brands use a similar datadotting process, but in that case, it's near impossible to get rid of the evidence. It's a process by which the VIN no. is written all over the rims, making it near impossible to steal and get away with...

To be fair to the guy selling them at $799, it is possible that he might get them from someone else, sometimes unknowingly of the history... Therefore I might have come across a lil strong in what I thought of him. It never occured to me that he might have been an innocent party. But Im just telling what I was told..
