I only buy genuine I had bad experiences with aftermarket, maybe just my bad luck

Secondhand because it's cheaper than new

how much do new ones cost?

Battery is a Battery really,, cause nearly all of them give you a 12month to 3 or 5 year warranty.. Second hand batteries if they hold a charge and are good, you can some what refurb them with new battery acid.

I got Fords last AU, November 2002. That would make a battery if some one still had one just shy of 7 years old. No battery would ever last that long, even with a battery conditioner.

Get a LION or AC delco mate. Most likely better than Fords factory battery anyway. Not that mine was too bad i got i think 4.5 years :D

mitchy

Just buy a new aftermarket one.
Will most likely come out of the same factory as a genuine one just have a different sticker.
Go to your local Fraud Stealership and see what they try and sell you. It will most likely be an aftermarket one!

Not all batteries are the same! The best are the ones with the sells in pockets to prevent shorting of the plates. Not sure who does what these days. The Calcium lead acid are the budget way to go and my SuperCharge have normally larsted me 5 years in both my V8s.

I checked with Ford and they offered me a genuine Motorcraft battery for $205.

In comparison with Coventry's who offered me an Exide battery for $165

Malz Auto sell Century Hi Performance for $145 and Century Super Hi Performance for $175

I checked the shelf for Optima Yellow but it's just too costly at $330

Which one would you go for?

cheers

if money is an issue i would go the cheapest!!
if your after quality the optima would be a better option..
but if your going to pay $205 for a genuine one thats no better than the $145 one..
i would pay the extra and get the optima ...far better than the fraud battery...
