I have an 93 XG ute, and after months of searching for the reason the car is temperamental when wanting to start I have come to the desicion to have the smartlock unit bypassed to save anymore hassles. Only problem is that i have no idea what the unit looks like or where under the dash the unit is located. Any advice would be much appreciated.

The tempramental starting issue could be due to a didgy earth with the BEM ... had the same issue with mine.
Apparently rather common ... after a while the earth point isn't so good and needs re-earthing ... it causes the car to start sometimes ... other times it just cranks over and nothing. got an auto-electrician to fix it ... after i had to get it towed ... cos it permanently immobilised itself on a Fordmods cruise ... lucky me.

u cant disable smartlock easily as the ECU takes an input from it before it gives power to injectors
