Ok so I'm looking at getting a sct flash tuner for my ba xr6 na 5 speed and I'd like to know if I can tune my mates car which is a ba xr6 auto, can u do this or will it lose his factory tune?

yes, but it depends on the tune, a custom tune is the way to go, you get best overall results and if the tuner is nice he can activate user options to allow you to have some adjustability , eg, idle speed, wot fuel, ignition timing, rev limiter ect..
generic tunes that are purchased are hit and miss, what works well on one engine don't always work well on another.. you can also use it as a scan tool to check and clear fault codes, |

So the sct tuner is generic so I can't adjust anything? Or can I get someone to unlock it so I can adjust idle and red line ect
