you know, you should make a triple webber manifold for the 4.0l, just to really rub it in! least it might actually go somewhere now ![]() TORANA = Ton Of Rust And No Acceleration (until powered by a Ford 4L!!)

eed-250 - the good old falcon six will eat the SR20 on average torque. SR20's peak will be higher (say hello turbocharger) but in a super sedan a fat torque curve across the whole rev range will really make it a weapon.

^^ for the same amount of cash,
ill build the sr20 and he can build the ford motor. i garuntee mine would be more realiable and much quicker around the track ![]() |

hahaha, i was kinda joking but... if you can fit a 4.0 into the engine bay, there should be enough room for a webber manifold, even if you have to cut away abit of the shock towers. As for making it, copy the flange design from your current manifold and adapt some runners to meet the webbers. the hardest part i think will be making the beast run
ie (fuel injection -> carby) the 4.0l packed full of sensors and s**t, which oviously requires a computer to measure imputs and adjust A/F ratios ECT maybe if somhow you could retain the webbers to use soley as throttle boddies with maybe a hidden injection system underneath the runners??? either way, good luck mate[/quote]

(up to 6000rpm) and have a nice wide power band. so you are not constantly searching for the right gear. Last edited by tickford_6 on Fri Jul 22, 2005 8:03 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

another big snag hit! oil pump fowls on the crossmember, does anyone know of a shorter oil pump which would match up to the falcon block? either that or one that faces another way? creating the pick up wont be a problem but the oil pump is a head scratcher.

I don't know about that man, i know of more than a few wickedly fast torry's, and when i get my turbo motor built for it, and the right clutch setup, it should be pretty fast as well. ![]() Ton of Rust, well mine has a bit, but what can you expect from 31yrs in the weather & 250k or so kms.... A ton of it, no. Small amount in lower rear quarters and a bit under the dash in the air vent area. Elsewise the car is pretty straight and rust free.... I would like to see my EB take the punishment that my torry has taken and be running still! I've even been hit in the a*** @ 60kph and it's repairable, going into the panel shop for that and rust repair soon, in next few mths. Then i can start to build the turbo motor for it..... A guy in perth has a 202 with a T04 @ 481 RWHP. In a 1200ish kg torry, if that ain't tough and fast, i dunno what is! ![]() Don't get my wrong tho, i love my EB as well, but i miss driving my torry. Can't wait to get it all finished and drivable again. Cheers ToranaGuy

i know this is not a cheap way out but you could run a drysump system. moroso make a few different ones worth looking at |

WooHoo! problem fixed im using a cut sump from a te cortina with modified pick up, very custom but puts the pan of the sump at the rear of the crossmember similar to the old torana engine that was in there. sorry no pics but have had the engine out while working on the oil pump/sump problem.

Well better give an update its been ages, and in that time i had my digital camera stolen with all my working shots of the torana so im plenty annoyed coz i really wanted to show everyone.
this is what has been done so far, - firewall and gearbox tunnel removed - T5 installed using standard torana mount and crossmember - EB motor rebuilt 20 thou oversize with heavy duty lifters race cam, and very high compression for....... tripple 45 webbers i have mounted onto the motor on a manifold designed and built by dad! - race clutch adapted to torana clutch pedal (completely different setup!) - steering column altered to use laser uni joints to allow column to clear side of bellhousing - sump on the motor created using 5 different sumps (EA,TE cortina, LJ torana, EH, and escort), now reversed so pan at rear of motor with custom pick up and dip stick mount. thats it so far been way to busy with that and the gearbox blowing up in my mk2 esky rally car havent really been using a computer for ages, hopefully ill be buying a camera soon so i can show all my creation! cheers matt ![]() |
