i think vct falcons might have floged stock au falcons because they had better shift patterns (in auto)and better ecu tunes and they all had at least 3:45 diff gears, but there are some stock au falcons that are pretty quick

i have a cam in my vct without the vct hooked up, and it goes hard, manages 140rwkw, and we expect better figure once we have done an edit and redo a vct cam for it. Im also in the process of getting a Gas Research carby as the Impco setup I am running is too small, will redyno for the GAS research stuff, then a new cam, then work on the edit. So be interesting to see how it all goes.

I am buying a VCT motor next week and for $650 with less than 100,000 kays on it I think its a good deal. And I dont confess its going to be a power house, just simply it will be better than a stock EF engine.

Its not like I have a EF XR6 with upgraded cam and deciding to put the VCT in and thinking its going to give me massive gains. I dont plan to do any mods to the VCT motor I just want a cheap low kay motor that has a bit more power than a standerd EF motor thats all. Not interested in flogging off holdens anything that moves for that matter.

speak up about what vct not having power? 4 kw's more and some nm's  i have been done over many times by non vct falcons and i race any thing that moves, from a standing start i will put a car length on most things but on the run its even par with most other au falcons ba's and e series, dyno figures on this web site show that vct engines dont have more power and they dont run better times (in general) they are however a good version of a great engine and like troymans falcon would make a wicked street car you get to start off with an already tweeked top end the rest however is all the same,my car has run 15.0 at 96 mph and was dynoed at around 190 hp so its no power house even modded, you can however see on the dyno sheets were the vct does its thing making the power come on a bit quicker.

I made the same power from an EA 3.9, std cam. Just head work, exhaust and EF injectors.

my point is you can gain the 4 kw easily on a normal 4.0 and save the engine swap thats all. vct deserves to be bagged out its a bit of a gimmick really.well if there is anybody who has a stock vct and thinks its a power house please speak up. when i am driving my car a little hard it doesn t go into those rev ranges were the vct works anyway

so you dont rev your car past 3000rpm??

well i dont know about the vct being a power house..lol
stock for stock the std au engine and the vct s**t on the early engine..
compared to the ef engine that was in my ed with all the ef acessories tickford el ecu,ect .
and the same set up on the vct engine in the same car s**t on the old engine in smoothness, performance and drivability..
maybe only by a few kw..
but it enough to notice the difference..

so can we bolt AU VCT heads onto non VCT AU blocks ?

as i sometimes see VCT heads for sale for cheap and it be a cheap option using a non tickford AU bottom end

and of course if you spent extra cash on the non vct head and put a different cam in you will easy out perform a std vct..
in my case the bang for buck was better using the vct engine compared to using a std engine..
