Hey guys,
- Engine running rough
- Pull plug 4 : wet (rest of plugs almost white)
- Test plug out of cylinder : lots of spark
- Compression of Cyl 4 : 200

Could this be a head or a burnt valve issue?

is it wet with fuel? oil? or water??

if it was a bad or burnt valve the compression would be s**t on that cyl...

That was my thinking, pretty sure it's gas. No water in oil mind you it's a rebuilt bottom end/rebore so maybe it's not getting past.

Cracked head?

Have triple checked compression and it's very high.

Car seems to run smooth when started but under load or when warm the 4th cylinder doesn't seem to be firing. Plug very wet (seems like fuel but could be water).

Possible crack in head? Only shows when engine warm?

I'm lost here, have exhausted all options I can think of and next step is pulling head off, not a cheap exercise but if it's the only option...

Any ideas before I rip it off?

it sounds like it could have a crack in the head??
first up, how old are the leads and plugs?
a bad lead can be the cause of a cyl dropping under load or when warm..

3 sets of leads and plugs already tried, should have mentioned above but yeh. Have even tried another engine loom and dizzy grasping at straws.

All cyls are around 200, I have spare injectors and haven't tried them yet. Do you think an injector could be putting so much gas in the cylinder that it wouldn't fire?

I'm almost certain it's the head now =\ But would love to be wrong.

Not that I've noticed, water level seems constant. How would I best test that?

Swapped over a dizzy/leads along with injectors from a running car and it's running sweet now. Timing is out a bit but I don't have a light, will get one tomorrow and sort that.

Cheers all!!!
