There is a 2011 FG 4.0L engine with 5 speed manual on the US eBay site: ... EBIDX%3AIT

The auction states that it comes complete with wiring harness, engine computer, and pedal assembly.

My question is do you also need the dash, or other components not listed, to install it in an earlier vehicle and make it work? I'm concerned with the Smartlock/Smartshield anti-theft technology keeping the engine from running. Nice paperweight if it won't work.

I'm no expert but would also be concerned about smartlock. Friend with similar year GM engine is trying to get back on road after a year with no battery connected to car due to crash repair. Won't start, been diagnosed as needing factory computer intervention/reset to get around bad signal to injectors caused by excessive time without power on computer ie security lockout.

An SCT flash tuner or similar can be used to remove the security. Being an Australian model not sure how many tuners in the US can do as the strategies may be different.

There are plenty of people who have done the conversion over here with different versions of this engine

as long as you guys can plug in to the aussie gear with hp tuner you can switch off all the security,
as for running the dash you dont need it but you might still need a speed signal for the computer. youd be best to speak with anyone in the tuning business but if you can buy it at a reasonable price i think getting it running isnt out of the question..worst case you can always send the pcm to australia and get the security switched off if you arent looking at a crazy custom build with big horse power.
