Hi guys, and gals, wanting to build a high revving NA 4.0 motor on methanol for speedway. Must be standard stroke. Any tips and ideas?
What block is best, what crank is best and what modiifactions to that, is it worth shortening rods and decking the block, can u get billet rockers??
Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated, tia

Hello, you may consider using the Ford Barra engine block, which has proven to be popular for performance applications. It offers a sturdy foundation and good potential for modifications.

Building a high-performance engine requires careful planning, selection of quality components, and professional machining/assembly. Consider consulting with a reputable engine builder experienced in speedway engines for optimal results and safety.
Forged pistons with a higher compression ratio can improve power output. However, this needs to be balanced with the specific methanol fuel you plan to use to avoid detonation.
Lightweight valves reduce reciprocating mass, allowing the engine to rev faster.
Carefully porting and polishing the intake and exhaust ports can improve airflow and optimize engine performance.
Design a high-flow fuel system to deliver the required amount of methanol efficiently at high engine speeds.
An upgraded ignition system with high-performance spark plugs is necessary to ensure proper ignition at high rpm.

Has anyone tried the Ford Barra yet? Is it feasible?

Ford Barra is a pretty good choice but it's important to have good machining, good materials and a detailed plan.
