Hi

Have a ef fairmont 6 cyl and there's a small noise on highway,

While doing low speed or sitting it's not noticeable. The engines very quiet wheel bearings were done last year along with brakes.

The thermo fans are at moment wired so they're on all time as they wouldn't turn on before to stop it getting hot until it can be fixed properly.

It almost sounds like air rushing through at highway speeds through fans while the fan motors are still spinning.

Would fans have anything to do with it as rest sound ok apart from that and did about 300kms or so yesterday without a problem

If anyone's got answers that's be great

Thanks

Hello,

I would take it for a drive with the Fans unplugged and see if that is your problem. If not you will have to look further.

It's not fans

When jacking front up and turning front wheels they seem to spin pretty smooth but found more cracks in the airbox area would that explain it

Would it just be intake noise

Hello,

From the intake you will get a " Roar " depending on the throttle. It could be worn door seals or even a window down slightly. As Cars age, new noises develop. A sudden change is normally a sign of a problem.

Hi

Yeah it's a roar sound and it's not fans and when jacking up wheels turn pretty smooth

And engine itself is quiet an when sticking your ear out window there is no noise at all

The intake looks pretty dodgy would that have anything to do with it

Gearbox shifts well and has plenty fluid so not that

hi again

found this and wondered wether this would have anything to do with noise asked about earlier

its not engine or gearbox doesnt appear to be wheel bearings as spinning the tyres at front the hubs seem to turn smooth just spun with tyre still on
