When I try to reset the timing on my EF, when it's on top dead centre the aligning pin won't fit into the slot it's supposed to fit in. The only time the pin fits is when No. 1 piston is at the bottom of the cylinder, no matter how many times I turn the motor over.Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong, and, what I need to do? Thanks.

With the EDIS synchronizer removed, you can use a small socket and extension to rotate the oil pump shaft to the correct position. You'll have to do it a few times to get it right. Are you doing an engine rebuild?

No,it just stopped running, no spark at the plugs. I replaced the coil pack, but that didn't help so I guess/hope it's the E.D.I.S. I've run out of Ideas,so if that doesn't fix it, it,s off to the wreckers!
