Ah, apparently they're H1 Low, H3 High

Well ... you will need to get the low beam ones.
As I mentioned before ... they take a few seconds to warm up ... and after you turn them off ... they have a 2 second delay (not good if you have to dip your beams ... you'll still blind them) The single filament versions like the H1 is cheaper than the H4s .... for obvious reasons (less in the kit) Would love to see them behind projectors on a Ford ... have seen them on an S2000 at work ... and they are nuts.

Yeh, thats fine. I only plan to use them in the Low's
Hopefully wont need to use high beam ever again (besides, the circuit breaker is borked anyway.. so I cant even use high beam atm )

Here's some more information
XENON HID lamps do not have a filament. Instead the light is created by an electrical discharge between two electrodes in an air tight tiny quartz capsule filled with xenon gas, mercury and metal halide salts. This improves durability as road vibrations can cause damage to coil lighting technologies. These light sources also produce a blue-white light that is safer because it is closer to natural daylight. The color temperature is approximately 4200 K compared to 3200 K for halogen. The increased light output from a 35 watt XENON HID lamp is approximately 80% more light then a 55 watt halogen bulb. The XENON HID system will also draw less power from your vehicles electrical system. Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people believe the misconception that colour temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or HID kit. This belief is completely false. The reality of the matter is that the higher the colour temperature, the less useable light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a colour temperature of approx 12,000k and has almost no useable light or lumens output. Higher K kits such as 7000k, 7500k, etc. have been manufactured for individuals that are more concerned about the actual colour output of their lights as opposed to the actual useable light output they produce

If you get them ... I gotta see them behind the XR headlights.

ebay is the best place as hyena said! i'd definately like to see how they'd go in the xr lights! would look bloody awesome!
still gotta sort these lights out, today was my out of action day lol.. i dont think its very hard to put the projectors in your headlights m1 .. ill pm u details where to grab some cheap and get a au headlight and we'll gutter it to try! |

I've just been advised that replacement bulbs are currently available for $155/pair (H1).
The seller noted that the globes are universal, but the plugs may need to be modified to suit the ballast. Cheers

That's what I thought ... but I am getting spares from the place I got my HID kit from so it plugs straight in and I don't have to worry about it

H.I.D. (High Intensity Discharge) Conversion Kits provide more than 300 percent the amount of light of a Halogen bulb. The clear white light produced by HID Conversion Kits is similar to daylight, reflecting road markings and signs better than conventional lighting.
The Xenon Bulb is a micro-discharge bulb filled with a mixture of noble gases including Xenon, and its life time of the bulb is equal to that of the car. The bulb has no filaments and the light arc is created by two electrodes, giving it a wider range of illumination. These Systems are modified for specific vehicle applications and fit directly into your existing headlights. HID/xenon conversions can done to almost all vehicles. There are a few limitations which are the following. High/low bulbs (two filament bulbs such as H-4, 9007 will lose their ability for High beam. This is because the HID bulb is only a one beam bulb it can not function as a dual high/low beam. Only one or the other. Installation of a kit could be done in less than 30 minutes or so. The attached pictures shows the different colours and bulbs available. Also remember that if you have a dual headlight i.e. XR, if you install a kit only that headlight will have a white/blue beam, the other will still be the standard yellowish colour, unless you change it to a Blue "Xenon/Halogen" bulb. Only one or the other. This information is old ... they have dual hi/low kits now ... I have a set in my car ... just gotta get the load across the circuit to switch it for me. I know ... my 100W centre H1 highbeam Halogen globes are yellow/brown compared to my outer H4s ... and the highbeams are not brighter than my lowbeams either. Can't really use the HIDs for the seperate H1s ... for 2 reasons ... they take a few seconds to warm up ... and they have a 2 second delay before turning off ... so if you flash someone ... they stay on for 2 seconds (too long if you want to flash someone ... and they don't warm up to full operating temp in time either). Repco Auto Parts can sell the Narva kit, but chances of any store stocking them are next to none. They'd have to order it in. |
