Good news found a good 289 for sale $650 that will get me xr mobile until the original 289 is finished.I cant wait to drive it,Im more excited about this than my first root."and it will last a hell of alot longer to"..

send photos of wife, kids and car i will make a decision then!!! and you dont have to be an old bloke to apreciate and xr i had one at 18 then now my second i got wen i was 22. i agree they are all class, especially if there done right.

is the 289 you have the original matching numbers, if so what ever you do dont get rid of it even if its stuffed it will increase the value of the old girl by heaps if you wish to sell it.

It is the matching nos engine but im scared i will break it so i keep it under
wraps in the corner of me shed.Cant find pics of wife and kids only car.

1'st day of my holidays,what happens??it f@#ken rains.Anyway mixed up paint for the xr's engine bay and bonnet then bang the air compresser s**t itself :x :x I'm starting to think this car is cursed,I've had it 4 years and driven it a dozen times.I should have been posting pics of the new paint but insted im having a b**ch sorry.

had a healthy 302 in it but threw the cam out the front of the block(could only happen to me) so the original 289 goes back in with a mild cam gt heads and a little holley, if all goes well.

I put the new trans in the xa today only problem is the stall speed is about 3000ish the ol 250 2v is lucky to see 4500. The engine is stock apart from a tricked up 350 holley so I might, no I have to get some more grunt out of the ol girl wish me luck she's never had the head off.Anyone who has done up a 2v i'd be keen to here what you have done eg: compression,caby ect.

I want to keep the original 2v head i've heard they can go well with small improvments.

yup I run her on premium at the moment normal ulp makes her ping like hell.
