Howdy all, I'm new to this and I need to stay motivated.Ya see in my shed is a 1967 xr v8 fairmont and a 1973 xa 250 2v fairmont and it's time to fix em.The xr has'nt moved for 12 months and the xa is driven once a week with a buggered muffler and a trans that should have died 12 months ago, my xr needs the 289 rebuilt. What the hell should I do fix the xa or the xr??????????? I will post pictures asap. Please help me make up my mind..

I would go the XA, never see any on the road, here anyway, then again you dont see many XRs either, go the XA.

Surely the XR has more class than the XA.
Leave the XA for a blown 351. do the XR!

Yeah, do the XR first, not many around anymore, and go the V8 way of the XA.

Do which ever you like first, but FFS dont take the above advice about putting a V8 into your XA like all the other sheep around, leave the 250 2V in it, sure it aint a big V8 in it but it's a RARE UNCOMMON 6.

There is a reason why everyone has a v8! Oh so sweet. But yeah, go the xr

Do both! How could you choose? I'd do the XR first as the XA although it sounds fairly f**k is still driving...

Go for around the 30/70 mark with about 0.500" valve lift, no more than 0.530" valve lift. Have the compression about 9.5:1 and no more than 10:1, have it ULP ready, and get the dizzy (electronic) recalibrated to suit the cam. You could run a 600 vac sec Holley, etc...etc. If you want to know more, just ask. Heaps of mods to make it last & fast.
