I just crashed my xf, it had the whole conversion done on it to a 4.0l 5spd manual. the engine needs a rebuild but all works fine. If u want to get parts of me for the conversion let me know, i'm wrecking it. New head, new clutch, new fly wheel all 5,000kms old. the bottom end needs a rebuild, thermo fans still okey, but i had a front end hit so the radiator is dead. I already have an offer on the box and engine and ecu at $1200. This would suit u well cause i have a whiteline xg sway bar and xg engine mounts and all the proper clutch cables and everything, modified eb wiring harness. I just built a megasquirt 2 to go in, but i crashed it. Man it went like a shower of s**t.

when i injected my XD the easy way to do the fuel supply is to get a tank out of the XF/XH/XG and so ute as it bolts straight in and has the fuel pump in the tank already to suit the injection. The only thing you need to do is to change you fuel gauge as they are not compatiable with the sender unit. I took the guage and sender unit to a place that calibrates guages and they change the back of my fuel gauge in the dash to suit. It isn't 100% but it is close and at least I have some gauge of sorts.

I'd be looking into purchasing a wrecked XG ute or Panelvan from an auction house etc, you can use all the wiring straight away, the guage cluster, sender units, the fuel tank, fuel pump, ecu, pie work, engine etc, thats got to be the cheapest way out, apart from labour you could get out of it for less then $1500 and you'll have the lot!

do your research on the cars before you go bidding or buying etc. good luck

If you can, try & get a injected motor out of anything BUT an XF - they were s**t from factory so unless you plan to mod it, go the XE or anything else BUT the XF.

Ive heard that the XE's had more power & the cam in the XF is what was holding it back. First thing you do is put a different cam in it.

I's say the opposite as every post XF update (including) is unleaded and has hardened valve seats pre installed. Theres a $700 saving on getting a head modded.

Go for a 4.0L from any E-Series. An XG wreck is much harder to come buy than an EA-EB, so you'll pay more. The only disadvantage of the later is you will still need to get engine gear box mounts.

I bought an entire EA, a road going car not wreck, with a 5 speed for $650. The perfect donor for your conversion. This engine will be going in my brothers XF, pure gas.

This is not for sale, I am just pointing out you'll be able to find something similar.

You are right there. Perhaps $700 could go towards a head & cam package..... :D
