the xf motors seem pretty bulletproof but the body needs shooting (refer to doorhandles). how expensive/hard to drop xf xflow into xw/xy sedan? what would be required?

carby? drop it straight in, the Xflow in XF's is just a slight evoloution of the pre X-flow's in the XY's

EFI? mate...... unless you're going for aftermarket EFI, dont even dream of it

This is a great conversion!

If you have a complete XF, you can use the wiring, steering column, engine, gearbox etc

We have a ZC with a crossflow, C4, XF wiring, front brakes and control arms, XF steering column, A/C condensor.

I'm currently working on a ZD with an EFI 250 from an XF Fairmont - the only tricky bit with the EFI is the fuel pump, but I have that figured out now...

Having a complete XF to work from is a good idea.

I have converted an XF Diff to fit into the ZD - pretty easy...

If you need any help, just ask.

Here's some galleries of the ZC

EFI is no big deal - need:

1. an oval hole in the firewall above the heater box for the EFI loom to go through

2. the fuel lines from an EFI XF - they bolt under the floorpan - XF uses nut-serts, I have the interior out so am using nuts and bolts

3. surge tank for fuel supply
- use normal carby-type electric pump to lift fuel to surge tank - overflow from top of surge tank returned to fitting attached to fuel tank filler pipe.
- Use VL Turbo Commodore external fuel pump to take fuel from the bottom of the surge tank to supply engine - return line from engine goes to top of surge tank.

One idea I am toying with is having an alloy surge tank made to fit in the passenger side of the engine bay behind the spring tower and fitting the XF tank-mounted fuel pump there - save the extra cost of an external pump - since I am already resigned to paying for a surge tank, why not get one made that will take the XF pump/gauge sender unit...
