Hi everyone,
Doing a drum to disc conversion on an XF sedan and wanting to know what discs and calipers fit? It’s going into a speedway car so handbrake won’t be connected. It’s currently a drum brake setup, but we want to go with disc instead, and people are wanting stupid amounts of money for an XF now, so going that way isn’t an option, so we will be changing over the drum brake assembly to a disc brake assembly, but not sure if we can use later E series assemblies. Can anyone shed some light on this?

All XF Falcons came out with 4 wheel disc brakes so the diff you have in there must be out of something earlier than XF.

Xf was disc front and drum rear. It depends what year and what type you got whether it was disc or drum on the rear. I’m on my 4th now and have only had 1 that was drum, this is the 2nd.

Ah okay all mine were 4 wheel disc brake You think you could use a later model diff with disc brakes ,hopefully someone else can shed some light on that subject.

All E Series Diffs will fit, especially if your not worried about the handbrake.
If you need handbrake you can make EA, EB, ED Diffs work easily, EF EL are a bit of work. The one thing you will need to note is that Diffs after EB1 may have larger (Wider) bushes in the rear. You can normally work around this by replacing just the rear bush, or grabbing the Lower Arms from your Donor car. Grabbing the Donor Upper Arms may also be important if using an XR Series Diff as they are different lengths and mounting (All retrofit) Nigel |
