The flasher relay started buzzing non stop today. If I turn key to IGN, it starts buzzing like crazy and smoke starts from behind the steering wheel. If I turn indicator on either L or R the buzzing and smoke stops and works perfect. When I turn indicator off, it starts again. Hazard lights working perfect also.

Replaced flasher relay with a new one, but it's still doing it. What could be the issue?? Bit worried about the smoke, so I have removed the flasher relay to get by, although now driving with no indicators untill it's sorted.

Searched forums but nothing conclusive. Replace the relay, or combination switch seem to be the advise, but no firm fixes. The XG combination switch is not the same as the sedans of the same era (EBII/ED) so I don't like the chances of finding a OEM unit, and then there's the Ford price tag!!

Which other Falcons share the XG combination switch?
