Hi,

Just found this site form FTG Auto Salvage - Awesome!

Query:

Converting a wagon from drums and a 3 speed column manual 6 to 302 toploader 4wdiscs and want to know whther I need a different tunnel panel to make the toploader fit? It's got a B&M quickshifter and I'm chucking Bucket seats in (although do I have to to make the shifter fit?)

Also going XF front end as far as stub axles/disc's concerned. And XD fairmont LSD disc rear.

Any idea's or thoughts guys?

Cheers

The toploader will fit under the std XW tunnell. Im guessing that the gearbox mounts are the same? you juz have to cut a hole in the floor for the shifter to go though.
You will probably need a brake booster for the disc brakes too.

Brake booster being purchased.

Thanks for that - one other thing - tailshaft - will I need to replace the standard one?

Cheers?????

I believe you can use the same tailshaft, but you need to change the front yoke, the 'Y' shaped thing on the front of the tailshaft that goes into the gearbox. I 'think' the V8 toploader yokes are different, not 100% sure about that, but you can still use the same tailshaft.

Okay - chasing Yoke down.

How much work involved in hooking up the handbrake? From Drum to disc?

if they're both cable operated, i can't see it being a big deal! just connect the new cable to your handbrake lever.
