fitting 5l into xy. some early pics. still to mount tranny mount,
exaust pipes. does anyone know how to wire an after market digital speedo to factory eb wireing loom as i have fitted eb loom to xy.
Car is mostly bare metal prep at the moment. Fitted alloy drive shaft from eb ghia. car starts and drives but still needs a lot of refinement
Any comments or ideas welcome. Have not bodgied the car in any way so as can be returned to cleavland/fmx if need be. nice shell. all xw fairmont interier. am building car mostly from stuff i have already so some mismach of xw/y parts but is still looking good. a lot of work but better than wreaking as so many wy,s are.
Finally wndsor blocks were fitted standard to these shells only difference is this one is fuel inj, will give me some economy and will start and run with the turn of a key. I have owned and run many 351c . wanted to advance from the 1960,s but love xw/y shape. any suggestions

Nice project there , thumps up from me
an idea to sugest is to use a mid series / sports cluster and pull it apart and see if it would fit behind the XW/Y cluster surround . just a thought ;)

thanks for the replys, loom took as long as it takes to remove from car to car but a bit tricky any way. lots of wires. Engines must be removed/
More pics to come, Any ideas will help from here on.
it is running gear from eb fairmont ghia.92. Auto is four speed electronic with computer wired up. seems to all work, diff ratio 2.92 from xw.
hove 3.50 if it runs to high.
Thanks ...............

I feel sick seeing that awsome old school muscle molested with an fruty engine like that... i understand why you might do that coz of fuel prices ... but you get no braging rights when you you do some thing like that to an xy......shame on you.... never the less good luck with your project..

I reckon you'll be happy with the 5L. Make sure you have a 3.5:1 limited slip diff and they go pretty well.

As for the "strokers" comment about the "fruity" engine, my XC with one of these fruity engines has a 11.7 sec pass under its belt. What's the problem with that?

WTF is `fruty' about using a Windsor???????????? OK, its got EFI, but they're really not that different...I genuinely don't understand some of these comments, like someone on this forum had a big go at me cos I dared to suggest putting a windsor in my XB coupe (an old windsor, too!) I suppose `stroker' would be made sick by that too. Geez, what about hot rodders? how many 32 ford hotrods out there have 350/350 combo's in them? (thats a Chev, kids - in a ford!!!!!!!) There's more with chev motors than ford motors in em!!!

My point is - enjoy your own car, do what you want to it, and more power to you. My OTHER point is, don't go telling people their car makes you sick or whatever - live and let live. If you want to be negative, maybe keep it to yourself. Now, I'll just get back to rebuilding the Chrysler motor I'm sticking in my genuine Phase IV. Had no end of trouble fitting the Holden diff, and the Toyota trans., but at least the top chop and sunroof are done.

HEHE thats gold

I can see why you would use the efi windsor, its easier to start, no carbie issues etc...

there's heaps of aftermarket parts available for them these days..

let us know how they handle? are they like boats on wheels :)
