If your falcon has pinstriping along the side it is very easy to tell which model it is.
A stripe front to back right along the side = XY
A stripe that has a downward 90 degree bend at the front = XW

OK guys its a ZA/ZB fairlane.

Had another GOOD look. Will get pictures up later.

But there is a little it of rust around the bottom of the rear window in one corner, a bit just behind the rear door (hard to explain), and there is a little bit of rust underneath.

I noticed that one tyre is rooted....as in flapping tread.

They still have it there for $1100 and 'must sell today' on it for the last week.

Im thinking of offering around $400 for it and see what happens there. Not wanting to pay more than $500 but dunno at this stage.

I also want to drive it to see if its f**k.

exactly. if your planning a restoration project on something like that you dont really want to be cutting corners, so it shouldnt matter if it runs like a bucket of s**t. you should have plans for engine work anyway.
and whats a bit of rust between panels? nothing a bit of welding/bogging/sanding wont fix....

Really hope that wont happen..

The thing is dad has always wanted to rebuild an engine.

I have just always wanted an older v8 ford.

So i think it will take us a while...we will get side tracked and wont do s**t for ages but then finally we will finish it and have it as a cruiser.

But im almost tempted to get it now. Get some decent rubber on it so it moves. Then ill slowly do things and keep driving it. That way it will get done.

I have to wait for dad to get back from hes thing in NZ. If the cars still there we may end up buying the thing:)
