Hi all,
I found this site while googling for falcon modifications. I have an '87 KC Laser but having split up with the Mrs of 9yrs and 3 kids, it was getting a bit of a squeeze with the munchkins on the week-ends. So I scored a '95 EF GLI Wagon ( off the Ex's sister!! ) for $500, stock as a rock with only a few minor issues ( oil leaks, rough idle, trolley dents, chips in paint, oh and it's a GLI Wagon so it has the mandatory a** 6 feet in the air ride height )
Plans for the wagon include ( but obviously not limited to )
De-badging, apart from the bonnet
Colour coding mirrors, door and tailgate mouldings etc
Smoothing the body of the 'Mum's taxi' dents.
Possibly a respray, Argon silver ( hope it doesn't come to that )
Dropping the suspension
17" Rims (I was thinking BF GT style, thoughts? )
Some interior mods, eg cleaning up yrs worth of 'Mum' duties, adding a trip computer, Blue led dash lighting ( thanks forums!!), adding to interior lighting, Decent stereo system etc
Decent exhaust
Cold air induction
Tidying the engine bay
I'm not too worried about making huge power, I just want a nice wagon.................................... till the bug really bites!!!

Sounds cool, just be careful not to spend $5000 on a car you can only get $1500 for when you sell it.

Hi and welcome to Fordmods mate :)

This sounds like you will be updating your progress on this project in this thread as you go yeah?

I will move it to the garage for you, where all the project car threads are.

Sounds like a easy list to get through, any chance of some pics of the wagon :)

Cheers mate.

Wagons are so good! Yours will look excelent after its lowered and another thing that really sets them off is tinting the windows as black as you can. Looks excelent!!
Anyway all the best of luck with it and be sure to show us some before and after snaps!

Yep, we need pics!!!!

Even if it is pics of your car as a stocker, it will show progress when you start doing things.

There are a handful of modded Wagons here on Fordmods, from mild, to wild. While the EAs to EDs have a different front end, the rear is 99% the same, so any suspension or cargo area and external mods will also apply to yours.

Cheers
BenJ

At the moment she's the only one going due to Fi's trans being kaput. (Yes, her box is rooted  )

Well She's had the gearbox done and a few other bits and pieces.
Just had a look at the exhaust today and it's stuffed. Has anyone here got a Redback 2.5" cat back system on theirs? Are they any good? I'm not really in a position to fork out big $$ on an exhaust at the moment but at about $250 delivered off Evil bay they're still cheaper than the quotes I've gotten locally. Could go to U-Pull-It but and get one off a wreck, but why? If for $150 more I can get new.
Anyhow enough talk.. Pics!!

I have a 2.5" Redback catback system on my EB Wagon and I think it is great.

I have a rear resonator on mine and it has a good tone and is not too loud.

I fitted mine at home to save some $$$$

I ordered mine through my local exhaust bloke, as the ebay ones didn't come a rear resi or hanger brackets.

The overall price was comparable to the ebay one including delivery.

Cheers
BenJ

Well it's been a while since I've updated this.
Not much has changed in the car apart from fitting the trip computer, and the Fairmont cluster. I color coded the mirrors and the number plate surround as well. Ended up finding a sports exhaust at the local wreckers for a very good price, so now she sounds pretty nice, I also put in a pod filter and did the Homer Simpson 'Speed holes' mod on the air-box.
Anyway enough chatter.... pics!!

Apologies for the crap photos, sadly the flash drowns out the lighting on the cluster.

Here's a (slightly, but still does it no justice) better shot of the cluster, am VERY happy with the result. I'll be trailing some white LEDs to try and make it a bit brighter, but I'm hoping the light spread will stay even, if not I'll be sticking to the old t5 globes.

Got bored today... So I decided to do some painting..

As I can never seem to get the chrome ones at a decent price I figures I'd go the other way and see how it looks. Got the handles off the spare wagon, satin black over Argon silver.

I think it ties in well with the overall theme.

I finally got the motivation to swap the injectors for the AU ones.
Attachment:
Injectors.jpg
Old EF one on the left, AU on the right. Much nicer.

Got all 6 injectors, fuel rail and pressure reg from the wreckers for the grand total of $11.50 (Cost of 1 injector according to their price board, love little wins like that :) ) About an hour or so of my time to remove the old and put in the new. As a bang for buck (especially given what I paid :)) mod I'd give this one a 9.5/10. MUCH smoother (she was already pretty smooth, except at idle she had the old 'Falcon Rumble' as a mate put it) and a bit more low end torque it seems, so I'm quite pleased with the result.
