Right, found what the problem was
SO! Now everything works...except...for the throttle and fuel gauge. The throttle flicks open for a fraction of a second when you turn the keys to 'on', i imagine this is the ECM doing a self check, but the pedal has no effect. The fuel gauge reads full for about 5 seconds the drops to empty. |

Don't know about the fuel gauge but I am guessing the ECU calibration is now out. Perhaps an ECU reset by leaving the battery off for a while will help.

What did you join all those cables together with when you shifted and relocated your engine bay loom? Double check everything that you have played with, ohm meter will help here.

{USERNAME} wrote: Basically, everything is connected EXACTLY the way it was when the battery was in the engine bay, just that the main battery cables have been lengthened. You did up the size of the cable, not just extend it??? Dont be surprised if you have a couple of volts difference, causing gauges etc' to not function correctly......Yeah, some of those plugs can be a b1tch to get apart, let alone connect... Cheers

Well we have the same problem in the EF, When we start it up the Fuel gauge drops, same as the RPM gauge and Temp and all.. We have changed BCM, ECU.. then got told it was the Alternator

Well, i finally finished off everything i can do on the Fairmont today. Installed new transmission and power steering lines and coolers, changed engine oil, filled with coolant, ATF and PSF. But, there are still problems.
I thought once the car was started that the throttle may become active again, not so. It took a few goes to eventually get the engine to start (in a way), but when it does start, it hardly idles and belches out thick black smoke. But wheather that's something to do with the XR6T MAP sensor and the ECM not being programmed for it, i'm not sure. I'm still stumped as to why the throttle has given up the ghost. Does the ECM earth through the stand it is rivited to? I've painted the stand and where it bolts down to the shock absorber bolts on the strut tower, isn't bolted down... But anyway, here's a video of the first fire: {DESCRIPTION} |

Hey dude, It will not run correctly with a 2bar map if it hasnt been flashed for it, It will go to shutdown mode where the throttle will not function.

I wish i'd known that before i'd cut and shut the wiring for the MAP sensor, if i put the old MAP sensor on, it's still not going to work properly |
