Don't worry though. The Lane received some attention today too!
You see, there's this Dyno day on next weekend, so I am giving the Lane a big check-up to make sure it's nice and healthy.
Started today with the wash of the K&N, it's hanging overnight to dry, and will receive a fresh coat of oil tomoz. Pulled the induction piping apart and gave it a good clean, even the MAF got hit with the old contact cleaner.
Tomorrow is oil change and coolant flush and refresh time. I've also been having some troubles with the davies craig switch. So I think I'd better pull that apart and see what the problem is. Seems to be a dodgy contact. Need the fans to be working while it's being put through it's paces 8-)
Oh, and if I get time, NC wheels and interior will be getting put back in service too

I have a big day tomorrow, better get to bed and stop this midnight rambling eh!

Cheers,
Mick

Anybody know if the Tailgate Gas Struts for a BA wagon fit the E-series wagons?

I have a set at work we bought for a company car, but we sold the wagon, so they are orphans. Thought I would make good use of them.

thats a negative there mick, the E-series use a threaded rod on each end, AU onwards use hoops on each end.. it sux as new shocks for AU wagons on ebay are cheap as chips

Sorry Huggie, I meant for the tailgate. As soon as I posted it, I went back to edit it to include the "tailgate gas" struts, but you were too quick :P

yeah the other half isnt happy about that side of me

only way to know is to measure them.. grab them and give them a go, providing they close completely when the boots closed it should be fine

The gas struts I had at work turned out to be Monroe Max-Lift ML1122's.

As it turns out, they are for EA-ED Bonnets. The model I require for the Tailgate are ML1121's. Ah well, that's what happens when you leave it to an apprentice to get new tailgate struts for a BA

http://www.monroe.com.au/catalogue/catalogue.html

The difference between the 2 is that the bonnet struts are about 100-150mm shorter than the tailgate struts. They fit OK and seemed to work, but you do not get anywhere need the required lift for the tailgate. So, I just replaced the bonnet ones instead :P No point leaving them at work, we don't have any EA/ED's there  Besides, the old "Lift-O-Mat" bonnet struts were on their way out. Now on to ebay to sort out the tailgate

Thanks Grant,

It's all but finished now, but I am attending my first Dyno run on Saturday, so depending on the results, I could be motivated to do more performance type mods rather than the cosmetic crap.

Stay tuned, I'm not even gunna guess what the readings will be. Time will tell.

Cheers,
Mick
