Its a Nov 03' Build BA XT in Lightning Strike with 260xxx kms (Serviced every 10k), i picked it up from a elderly couple for just under $2000

Image

First things i did when i got it was taking off the roof racks and just go over the car tidying up and fixing small things like the front grille being popped out etc..

Debadge it of the falcon & xt badge will clean up the rear as well.

Other than that looks pretty good

Thanks Motivat-ed,

I will be removing the 'XT' badge today, aswell as replacing my bump stops and a sway bar link.

Still not sure if i should remove the 'FALCON' badge though, i'll keep it for now

Also, a couple more things that i will be adding to my list

SL springs all round with Monroe gt sport shocks (unless anyone else has recommendations?)
aux input connectors with the amp as i don't want an aftermarket head deck.
BF taillights
thinking about those 'blade' style side indicators from ebay.. but not sure how they look on Lightning strike :/

Still undecided on rims too, i keep looking down the route of Silver/Dark argents or Typhoons but i want to go something abit different at the same time.. i dont know, i worry about that later

Will put up some pics of the debadging if i do it today :)

Really frustrated today...

Went for a nice drive last night around town, and discovered a new issue..

Everytime i park the car and turn it off, it starts to leak water... like alot, but once the car is started it doesnt leak at all... any suggestions to what it is? :/

EDIT: Ending up being a simple little split in the radiator hose, all fixed now :)

Just wondering if anyone here can recommend any good places to get some painting done around Newcastle, NSW (bodykit etc.) that doesn't have overly outrageous prices?

Would be greatly appreciated :)

Managed to buy a Fairmont Ghia boot garnish for only $95! pretty stoked considering i couldn't find them anywhere and when i did, they were 150+

Ill be purchasing the AUX kit and side indicators today, aswell as possibly an XR Rear skirt :)

Keen to start putting these things on/in!

Careful. I de-badged mine and one of the previous owners seemed to have put the badges on with about a litre of super glue.
Yours should be fine, but I'm having to wet sand all the badged areas, some of which have gone down to bare metal. (Not a biggie as my Fairmont is old and rough and will be repainted some time anyway)

Also - not sure about BAs but removing the rear 'Falcon' badge on my EL left 2 holes exposed through the shell, which I'll need to patch.

no holes on the newer fords luckily, but if a shoddy jobs been done on the paint before, even when removing the sticky stuff it can bring the paint off as i discovered on my incorrectly placed xr badge.

good to see a new newcastle member on here, and in a b series for once
welcome to the s**t's.
i dont know of any paint places but i suggest going to pedders at gateshead and buying some sports ryder shocks over the monroe gt, everyone complains about monroe gt and i have installed rear sports ryders in my bf xr and i have no complaints, very happy.

Yep :) there isn't any holes on the B series and i have now debadged it and you would never know there was a badge on it before, came up beautifully.

Haha thanks man, love the B series (dad has the xr ba, i have the xt)!

cheers for the recommendation aswell! i will have to check them out, as im not really set on anything yet, dad has the Monroe gt's in the xr and it seems to ride nicely.

Also, managed to get some cans of lightning strike so i can start painting these mirror scalps and the side mouldings!

Got a few small updates

Managed to get the mirror scalps painted today :) they came up great, just needs another coat of clearcoat then ill let them sit until i can put them on!

The side mouldings should be done in the next few days, just trying to find a gap between the random weather here..

I also painted the surroundings of my power window switches because i thought it would look quite nice and it wouldn't be too much :)

here is how the driver side one came out!

Image

A bad note though, i stuffed up the passenger side one and cracked the switch while trying to remove it (my stupid fault) so im going without passenger side power windows until i can get a new switch in as i can't even control the passenger window with the driver side controls... :/

Update Time! Lots happening :)

The weather was finally nice enough to let me get some more painting done so i managed to get my side mouldings painted aswell as the dash spears :) really happy with it! although i made some small stuff ups on the mouldings (you wouldn't notice unless i pointed it out)

Also i will be picking up an XR Rear bar and sideskirts in the afternoon, which will be going straight on :) got them for a bargain price

Here is some pictures (sorry for the horrible quality)

Update again!

Picked up the XR rear and side skirts, was abit of a hassle to get the old stuff off but getting it on was much better :) pretty happy with the result! i just need to give them a good polish and clean to get rid of the ever so slight orange tinge..

The guy was also kind enough to sell me the steering wheel out of the car he was pulling apart, which is the fpv steering wheel! so i jumped on that straight away for a super cheap price
