Sad part is, once I'm done it will basically be a modded XR anyways.
I should've bought an XR, would've saved me a little bit of effort, but I do love my car :D

s**t happenes, like you sad its only a bit of effort... i wish the opposite really, except i dont like the lower series interior colour, but apart from that i could have saved a lot of money and just used that to upgrade to other parts anyways... so its neither here nor there really...

and at the end of the day... i'd rather have your ute over mine :P

Well... the differences between the XR and the XLS aren't that many anyways.
The only thing I won't have, in the end (that I wouldn't of changed out anyways) will be those flush mounted tweeters in the A piller... which until you told me about them (I think it was you) I didn't even know they existed.

In the end, though, I really haven't done all that much to mine.
Yours will get there, too.. give me another 12 months and I think this thing will really be on the way to finished... or.. I hope so anyways.

I'm not sure. You'd think the size difference wouldn't be that much.
Only one way to find out, I guess.
Yeah, at least you're doing a trade that will help you with this kind of thing, too.

yeah that is true... hopefully something i can try out soon. getting sick of the stock sound system, though must say... as far as stock sound systems go, it is pretty good.

yeah, i want to get into automotive machining. clutches, brakes, cyclinder heads, cyclinder bores, cams, cranks, shaving heads, etc, etc, etc... custom fabrications, etc etc etc... so much i want to learn and get involved in :)

Just keep an eye on the for sales forums if you want to pick up some cheap aftermarket sound gear. Some of it might not be top of the range, but you'll usually make your money back on them if you decide to upgrade later.

Those stock tweeters are absolute treble kings. I went to the trouble of installing a/m ones in my ea with crossovers, then installed most of the 1000watt rms install into the ute, but with the standard tweeters and no crossover and wow. Those factory tweeters are indestructable... so far. I think my ears will fail before they do lol

Tweets are neithe rhere nor there, really.
As long as they're reasonable.
Front speakers are majorly important, and your bass hit.
Rear speakers aren't that important either... though in a ute they're pretty close to you, so if they sound s**t, you'll notice (if you bother with rears in the ute)

Yeah rears will only be changed if the budget allows. I don't know what the xls has, but the xr's have stock speakers in the back. So they might be either removed and sold or just disconnected if I do other audio work.
Which should hopefully be coming soon, as I just got a sub and amp for free from my cousin.
