Stoked.

Does anyone know whether I can swap the ecu's straight over or whether security/BEM will get in the way? I have read conflicting info as to whether AU ecu's will swap over and run without being sync'd.

Thanks

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays?

If it's smartlock you can just swap.

Mine is smartlock, fingers crossed the ecu is a smartlock and not S1.5 smartshield.

Keep us posted - i'd like to start keeping track of the differences too.

BTW, Smartshield is nothing a J3 can't fix :)

Tickford engines will run off any std ecu (only minor internal differences). May possibly run better with an xr6 ecu and fuel pressure regulator, but you would be better off spending the money on a j3 chip n tune instead of changing ecu.

And yes jason, I will definately be going a j3 chip if it doesn't work out. Shame there's no one to custom tune in brissie though!

Okay due to an oversight (I think I was just excited and didn't look properly) I actually have a WTLB, which is June 99 - 2000. I have a feeling this may mean the ecu is a smartshield S1, where I think as my car being May 99 is a smartlock.

Looks like it will be on the auto ecu/j3 chip. On the bright side I can get some coin back by selling the ecu.

Hi All,

I've got a stock standard EF Fairmont V8. I'm about to get my hands on ex-chaser EF XR8 ECU (4DKE). My questions are:

Will it work in my car?
Is it safe? Will it do any damage to my car?
Are there any benefits?

Thank you all

answers - yes, yes, no, some! it will be fine, you might loose speed sensitive p/steer but no big loss power steer still works fine, wont damage the car,I have tried a 4DKF ex chaser one in my NF Fairlane and it went fine, there will be no rev limiter, but thats about all it does you should try to get the TCM for the auto as well for much better shifts too.
