i got a new/2nd hand bcm from ftg auto salvage for my el xr6,and it wont learn to my car doing the leaving the ignition on learn procedure...and my keypad wont learn either so i have no central locking and iv tried everything i can find to try to sort it out

how long did you leave ignition on?

I beleive EF is 1/2 hour
and EL is 1 hour

possible you got a faulty one too?

im thinking its faulty aswell,i left the ignition on for over an hour and iv tried it like 4 times and it still wont work

doors closed all accesories off and ignition on

That happened on this EF the other week, leave the key in accessories position with everything off and all doors closed.

After about 30 minutes the door locks should cycle twice and you can start the car.

Must do it within 30 seconds though - or wait 30 minutes again.

this is not my experience at all and ive done it to 2 cars in the past week...

I did not worry wether the doors were open or closed nor wether anything was on or off....

I put the ignition in the ON position NOT the ACC position....

the second time I wasnt even there when the locks cycled, I came back after about 45min, so I very much doubt you have to try to start the car within 30 seconds of the locks cycling....

id be inclined to think the BCM was faulty, but why did you replace it in the first place...

the old one was keeping something on and draining my battery every few days i have another one on its way

I spent a weekend trying to do this, it would never cycle the locks and start afterwards.

I realised later that I had left the auto shifter in gear and not in park or neutral, so it wouldnt fire >.>
