I have a SCT flash tuner that was used on an FG Falcon XR6T. Can anybody else use it? or does the car have the be un-flashed first before I can sell it on?

Car MUST be flashed back to stock to unlock it before resale.

Only SCT in the US can unlock a used box, and you need the blessing of Obama, the Pope and St Peter before they will do it.

In short arm79 is right, the boxes are single car only.
(we all have CAPA to thank for that)

Yeah, essentially the only way to be able to resell an SCT box (X2 or X3, not X1) is to flash the factory tune back onto the ECU.

But that means returning the car to stock. So removing injectors, coolers, cats, pipe work, exhausts, etc, etc. Something that will rarely happen, so the box would have to live with the car for the rest of its life.

It's a long story, essentially, CAPA was unlocking X1's when they weren't supposed to. SCT got p****d, CAPA is no longer the Australian dealer (Herrod is now). And now no one in Aus can unlock them.

no, hence data_mine saying "now no one in aus can unlock them".

they'd bother because if you could use 1 flashbox to tune an infinite number of cars, then every tuner would have only 1 flashbox.
CAPA were unlocking them without SCTs knowledge and reselling the boxes.
for example, CAPA buys 1 box off SCT but then resell it 3 times.

i don't see the problem, it's like software licensing, just a physical version of it.

There's other options, Sniper, EFILive (aka what Commodores have had for ages) is starting on Falcons now.

But the SCT option is the most well known and support option. It's also the only one I know of that's working on the ZF6 auto - I've got a 'testing' tune at the moment.

Sniper tuner is better alternative to the SCT Flash tuner IMO, you can use that on two cars at once. You just have to pay for an extra bullet. That's what i got, and it was heaps cheaper than the SCT Flash. The tuning guys reckon theres more settings in the Sniper as well.

they are both s**t if a hack tunes the car with it.
decide who you want to tune the car first, use whatever they want you to use.
