Guys,

Im starting this thread to keep people up to date with my efforts to edit EEC-V binaries from EF/EL I6 Autos using widely available software and cheap hardware.

For more info on the hardware, see http://www.tiperformance.com.au.

ImageImageImageImage

For software, im using TunerPro at this stage.

EDIT: Update 2/9/07
Can control (i.e. have tested) base idle (in gear/neutral & A/C), rpm limit, speed limit, open loop fuel map (just don't have axis labels for the table). Have spark tables, havent tried fiddling with them yet.

EDIT: Update 28/7/2008
OK guys. A lot of progress has been made since the last update, including but not limited to:

Spark (still testing), VE table, more Fuel tables, lots more scalers (including MAP), EL ecu support (so if you are smart enough to fit an EL ECU into a boxcar, you can tune your boxcar for nix).

Guys, this will allow tuning of most engine related parameters in a stock ECU (no trans control). All you need is a bit of know-how and a WB02 and you can tune a stock EEC for under $400 including all hardware. PM me for access to BINs and XDFs for EF/EL (do not ask me about your CFI EA).

EDIT: Update 11/8/2008
Find more information, the software, binaries and definitions you need to start tuning your EEC at http://www.techcore.com.au/eec/.

EDIT: Update 30/9/2008
I have in my hands a locally built prototype J3 Chip & Programmer! It is currently undergoing some testing in my car, once we are happy with it we will produce a couple more chips ready for sale. Much simpler to program than the moates gear, this burner integrates directly with TunerPro RT. Pic below:

Chips for sale @ http://www.tiperformance.com.au

EDIT: Update 16/11/2008
Now have Chips and Programmers available on the site, http://www.tiperformance.com.au

Edit your own chip for under $200!

EDIT: Update 12/2/2009
New site and updated hardware online! Check it out @ http://www.tiperformance.com.au

EDIT: Update 19/4/2009
Now selling TechEdge Data Logging WideBand Controllers! Including a 2J1 WBo2 Controller, Bosch LSU sensor, and LD02 digital AFR display, our Full House Tuning pack has all you need to tune your own car. Check out http://www.tiperformance.com.au/product ... TuningPack for more information.

EDIT: Update 16/7/2009
New Dealer / Tuner list. These guys can all tune our products, so if you are interested in getting a dyno tune done, give them a call.

VIC - CVE Performance, Bullet Performance Racing
NSW - Boydy's Mechanical
WA - A&K Auto Service Center
SA/QLD/NT/ACT - If you know of any tuners who you recommend and would like to see able to tune our products, let me know!

Check http://www.tiperformance.com.au/dealers.html for more info!

If you are not interested in DIY tuning your own car...

I can provide pre-programmed J3s, ready to plug into your ECU, which will 'convert' an Auto ECU into Manual, Standard into Tickford/XR6, etc etc. I also offer custom 'tweaked' chips for stock/mild/crazy cams for people hunting better idle quality & AFRs. It is recommended to have some kind of AFR monitoring hardware to make sure you're not breaking your engine. Please see the site for more information.

Alternatively contact one of our dealers for a dyno tuned package - http://www.tiperformance.com.au/dealers.html

As above, no trans stuff. The LPG ecus havent been disassembled either, I dont have access to one to pull a binary from -- could be very similar.

I have several LPG ecus here if u would like to pull the binaries from

I guess I could just mod the ign maps in an Xr6 to get the better LPG maps..????

PM me if you like, id be keen to borrow one for 10 minutes.

Yes, you could start with an XR6 or standard bin if you wanted to, but you'd lose the dual map ability and the LPG solenoid control features of the LPG ECU.

OK, minor update to the site which should hopefully make it self explanatory as to what is needed to have a play with this stuff.

I have also gotten in contact with a guy who makes J3 chips and hardware locally and we will probably have a much cheaper solution for that side of things soon!

oh found them...

just a question, I see you only have one defintion available but heaps of binaries....

will that def work with all the bins u have there? cause I would have thought each bin would require its own unique def.....

most of the bins have the same strategy but just minor tweaks to the data section. some are totally incompatible.

those defs will work on the majority of the bins there - for instance the EF def will work on the 4TEG bin (make sure you use the 256kB stacked version, not the 56kB one).

This is brilliant..

If I could ask Jason, what did you change to fix your hunt problem?

it was mostly overfuelling, as you would expect when you alter the main thing a SD computer uses to calculate fuel (vacuum). tuning the VE table to account for this helped the most - especially under load.

secondly, the falcons have quite an aggressive overfuelling setup when cold starting, and this can be easily ramped back using the Fuel scaler vs ECT table.

you will find my modified binaries to suit a wade 1521a cammed EF auto on the site.

hope this helps :)

which bin do you have the most tuning options with??

also can you adjust diff ratio and max speed in each gear....or any trans variables???

no diff or trans variables. download them and try it out :) the EF def works best with 4DBG (N4AGB strategy).

My Motor is EL as is my ECU... (in a boxcar though)

I have no trouble with the software side of it as I'm a programmer/IT admin by day.. but I've not had much to do with vehicle ECU's before..

I've got tunerpro and the EL xdf and the 6TEE xr6 bin..

I've loaded it up and had a look and some stuff like idle speeds and the like is fairly straight forward, but fuel maps and the like are abit beyond me at persent.

Do you know of any tech docs or the like specific to ford or otherwise that might help clue me in? I find this whole thing fascinating.

Sweet, I'll give that a read..

I'm supercharging my EL motor, and wondering if this has the potential to perform the same tasks that a capa switch chip would.. meaning if I could locate the problem areas (ie rev ranges where the mixture was abit lean.) I could fix them by editing the fuel table?

Do you know of anyone that has edited the bin for a turbo or other forced induction for an EL or EL motor?

I have heard of ChipTorque doing custom bins for boost (this was a manual EA). Heaps of US guys do SD or MAF based tunes with boost.

You can most certaintly alter fuel tables, and probably override the ~12psi fuel cut in the standard bin (by editing the MAP scalers).

I think it would work best with some kind of rising rate reg (8:1 or something).

ALready have a Walbro GS342 high volume/pressure fuel pump and rising rate regulator.. just trying to cover all my bases..

What do you mean by the 12PSI fuel cut?

What rate is your reg?

I have not experienced it, but apparently there is some kind of fuel cut when the ECU gets confused by boost. From most reports it occurs somewhere between 12 and 15 psi, but it seems to depend on car/ecu. As I said I believe you will be able to scale it out so it shouldnt be a problem.
