Polishing went out with the ark. You need the "roughness" in the inlet manifold the enable the fuel droplets and air to mix. If it is too smooth, nothing mixes.

Porting is good to match manifolds.

Triple angle valves is good. See C.O.M.E., they did a GREAT job for me for a Cleveland. As did Jim Mock later for a I6

Large inlet ports = good top end (3k rpm +)

small inlet ports = torque = grunt off line

I had a 351+ Cleveland with a Thermoquad and 2V heads, and that thing would move the earth!!

Where are you gonna use most of you engine?? I know I rarely drive over 2500

Ford GT falcon 4V heads were great for 5000 rpm plus, but useless below 2000. Anybody that knew there stuff opted for 2V heads with a Thermoquad, (or a Holley  )

Gotta get an AU head gasket!!!!! Anything but the standard piece of crap

Choose between power and torque, power comes in about 3000 rpm+, torque comes in about 1500 odd. As I have said before, where u gonna use your engine the most??

S/S valves?? I have had "normal" valves for the past 250,000 kms from JMM and I have had no hassles

ANY set of headers/free flow zorst will improve breathing/performance. Note though that free flow zorsts usually only improve top end, with a gain in bottom end. I have JMM headers, and I am quite statisfied

Here endeth the lesson :D 8-) :P

alright thanks for that Creeture. i was thinking of not doing any work do it until it blow a head gasket but save up all my dimes, take it off the road and then do a head gasket and while its off get it ported.

ill be using it for daily doing the odd ''p plater thing'' and dragging (down the strip)

what would you say for my option

the head recon bloke goes mate get some S/S valves it will run better i kinda got confused but i thought id put them in just in case anybody knew any difference to the standard one and the S/S one

would you go minispool or LSD or something called a LOCK RIGHT LOKKA?

;)
Getting too technical man,
Use the xr head, get a wade cam, adjustable cam gear, j3 chip, pistons all that usual rebuild/build up stuff, go a bit further if you wanna.
End of the day it's a e series ford, don't loose you're head in the numbers.
Were lucky at ford mods to have a great library of different mods on our engines.
Alot of different oppinions on cams, chips and power enhancing mods that actually give some go.

pull your whole interior out. everything that you dont need to actually drive tha car and turn tha lights on. stuff like stereo , door cards, centa console, seats ecept for drivers seat ahaha

you will be surpised how sharp it steers into the corners man, feels so different, and the a** end lights up alot easier!!!!

Camtech list a part number for valves springs to suit that cam.
They recommend a higher stall torque converter. http://www.camtechcams.com.au/ford_6cyl_eael.html

Pep-pro do valves. http://www.pepproracevalves.com.au/classic.html
ANY decent engine machine shop will be able to cut a good 3 or 4 angle valve seat in the head to suit.
