Hey guys,

Ive heared a few i6 falcons and they all sound like crap to me and was wondering if there are any aftermarket exhaust that give good flow but sound standard or a tad louder?

Or would i have to do a custom system eg 2x magnaflow 2.5inch mufflers and a resonator?

What do you guys think needs to be done to achieve good flow but sound like standard or a tad louder?

My mandrel bent lukey exhaust with 2 mufflers doesn't sound too loud...an exhaust said it was extremely quiet for a 2.5" performance exhaust.

not a hard thing to do.

any off the shelf system with a tri-flow muffler, and resonator in the tail pipe. then just have a second resonator added to the main pipe in front of the main muffler.

Thats what i was thinking or same thing u say but custom system with magnaflow mufflers instead.

I cant find any images of lukey or redback exhaust systems for EF/EL falcons

I dont know why you're looking for images - they all look the same...

If you want a quiet system just get one large muffler before the diff and a smaller muffler after the diff - where most people have a resonator.

this can simply be solved but getting a two and a half inche or three inch exhaust system with a 3 muffler boxes.

should sound like a stock standard falcon has it is just doing what the OE one did but is a bigger diameter.

well that is my theory and iam sticking to it.

Im also thinking exactly the same as you. Might be the best option as well.

Trust me - 2 actual muffler boxes will be what you're after.
If you've heard one you'd understand what I mean - 1 muffler one resi is normally not very loud - 2 mufflers is quite quiet, yet gives you a hint its not stock.

How would you classify the loudness from the above youtube links, which is best described from the links?

if your after a stockish sound you have to definately stick with the factory exhaust manifold. all you will need with a larger 2.5 pipe is to knock off one resi, so one main large and a small one either at the back or the front no biggie.

personally id run a large main muffler and a hotdog. may be 10-15% too loud for what you are after by the sounds of it.

I put a catback with one main on recently, and it was a lot chuggier, and definately louder, especially around 1500-3000 rpm it was at its loudest. noise actually decreased after that. a resonator would have taken the loud resonation out of it.

I then put a set of paccies on, and it changed again dramatically. a little more woofy down low, but over 2500 rpm it becomes a very aggressive bark. Its not where i want it yet, i will be adding a hotdog before the main muffler in the near future. If I can get my hands on a camera Ill post you a vid on how much extractors change the top end note.

Loudness of the system I'm talking aboutis above stock - however it is less than the common 1 muffler 1 resi, and IMO it sounds better. The system on my mates EF was originally a 1 muffler, 1 resi, and we swapped the rear section with a resi for one with a small muffler.
Volume decreased, but the note was much more like stock, just louder.
My system is just one muffler, and the 2 setups sound nothing alike.

I cam across these extractors and seem very similar design to the Pacemakers 4480

The exhaust note i like is also in the above links i posted and these guys supply this system 2 :D

I have those extractors - they are 4480 copys.

That is very tame for a 1 muffler 1 resi setup too.

Mine sounds similar to the first 2 youtube clips that you posted of what you wanted...I believe mine is a bit quieter then them though, either that or it's just recordings.

I have 2 videos. one of my exhaust at idle...with the revving at the engine bay (exhaust note can't be heard over the engine noise), the other is from cabin...it was filmed to figure out why my revved hanged after releasing throttle.

That's with Pacemaker 4480s, 2.5" hiflow cat (magna flow), and 2.5" lukey exhaust system with one large muffler before diff, and a smaller muffler for rear section.

Hope that helps.

Sounds alright in the cabin but i think i would install another mufflers 2 get it abit more quiter.

Did you notice decent gains when u fitted all your exhaust?

krisisdog

Yeh they look like it but i prefer the 02 sensor at the end as i think it may work better.

On the website it dosent say if its a 1 muffler & 1 resonator setup but i guess it may be.

But i would still like it to be quiter.
