The handling of my old EL isn't even comparable to my AU, it does have IRS though.

I used to hate the looks of AU's, even when I bought it wasn't sure on them, but they grow on you.

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays?

AU,factory fitted tickford kit/IRS, t5,Sports ryder/KYB: gone.

I cannot believe people could think that an EL has anything to compare to an AU. Comparing the 2 is like saying whats better for desert. A piece of Turd (EL) A piece of cheese cake (AU)

The AU.
Far improved smoother motor, Doesn't blow heads, Smoother, far more fuel efficient
They run Sequential EDIS, Unlike the EL which is living in the 80s with distributors. You buy an EL and 2 months later it will probably stall and you will have a dead hall effect sensor. More ignition s**t to service as well, Dizzy cap, rotor button. AU's drive so much nicer, Sure they don't look as good but I think the fairmont is sex :P

Just don't get a series 1 forte.

Sure I love my EF which is practically EL (Although I think EF's are more fuel efficient then EL) It's good on fuel, Comfortable and Quiet. But it doesn't compare to the AU, Ford dramatically improve all their cars with every major model change (Most of the time excluding EA,BA) When i'm not a poor a** i'll probably get an AUII Fairmont (non VCT) - (want the better fuel efficiency the non vct has enough power as it is)

Waits to be flamed

id just like to say my el falcon has never had any of those problems. its done 280,000.
and im pretty sure the el was MUCH better than ef in many aspects. and agree or disagree?

Lol I'm sure the EL improved on the EF, But hardly noticeable. My cousin has an EL Ghia, Think it's killed 3 coils and 1 or 2 Dizzy modules.

The improvements in the EL is the Fairmont grill and the rear number plate surround, and I like the EL Fairmont alloys better, EF Ghia alloys look better then EL Ghia though. Soon enough the EF will receive those updates :)

If you can get over the "unique" look of the AU's, then a AU mont is a fine choice. ( i may be biased tho.) Go an AU Ghia if you can find one. leather VCT and 3.45 limo.
