Not sure if this belongs in here or the X series workshop but....
I Have searched the forums and have gotten no clear answers for these questions

What parts are needed (please dont answer with "engine" :P) and what needs to be modified to fit a B series XR6 turbo into a XE ute?

Would it be better to put in a NA BA 6 and turbo it later?

And will it need to be "Engineered" and if so will it be better to just drop in a 351 V8 and get that "Engineered"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

go for a bf turbo motor or even a egas, stay away from ba blocks, there internals are weak..
you will need a fair bit of work done to the kframe to sit the barra on nicely. custom engine mounts, a gearbox to suit, custom tailshaft, new wiring, a ecu to control everything..

also do you want to include the goodies driven around the pump eg; power steering, aircon??

its alot of work mate, budget minimum 10k.. 15+k if your not getting work done yourself

how about a efi windsor v8? me brothers got a au3 with the 220kw motor and it goes great. would be even faster in a lighter xe. i love turbo 6s and how easy they make power but nothing sound as good as a v8.

XE falcons had 351's in them from factory so provided that its a Cleveland then you don't need engineering. Just drop in and drive.

Considering there is a workshop doing drive in drive out BA NA conversions for 6/8k for E series, your budget of 15k seems rather high...
What is this weak internals crap? The rods are the only difference, and you'll get issues with the valve train before the rods come into play anyway. The rest of the blocks are the same and eGas motors have a higher compression ratio than NA motors, so I would steer clear unless you're rebuilding it anyway.
Engine mounts, mod'd K frame and even driveshaft will cost fuk all in the grand scheme of things.

hi,i have fitted a au engine into a xf ute.if a ba/bf sump is the same it will drop in without sump mods.fit a xg sway bar and move it forward.use ea engine mounts and a au t5 gearbox then use a xf ute t5 tailshaft.gearbox crossmember will need reworking.this would be the basic`s.however there`s the wiring and ecu / radiator / etc.

krisisdog which wor shop does ba conversions for 6-8k?? id like to call them and find out what exactly they do, im in the process of slapping a turbo on my ef, when i shopped around to find out how much it will cost to drop a baturbo don in most workshops i called gave me a quote of 12-15k drive in drive out, and if all parts were supplied a 5-8k labour bill, many others told me they wont even try it and it cant be done..

Hmmm, it was on here or boosted, may even have been FTG? It was for an NA 6cyl, though I wouldnt imagine labour costs changing too much to drop a T in, mainly just purchase price.
