Carries a $10,000 fine if the EPA catches you. Not worth it.. bang out ur muffler if you want some extra noise.. the cat isnt very restrictive.. its your mufflers which quieten it all down!

No1. Illegal if you want to comply with EPA reg's which your car must meet to be RWC..

No2. Bashing it will probably restrict the exhaust flow reducing power and depending how hard you drive might cause the engine some grief..

exactly what joolz said.

Your car will suddenly smell identical to a super powered car, anybody who has smelled the difference between a catalysed unleaded car and a non catalysed super petrol exhaust will know the difference. Its a massive difference in smell and I'm no tree hugger either but I sincerely hope anyone who guts their catalytic converter gets the maximum penalty from the EPA.

Yeah go get yourself an AU XR Tickford cat converter, its cheaper than an aftermarket one and its basically the same thing.

Its not good hollowing out your old one, as the fine is just not worth the effort.
