As the title says does changing your diff gears affect your dyno read out? Like i have 3.45 lsd and it makes 161.3rwkw atm but im geting 3.7s with a lokka put in will this alter the read out at all? Just curious cos im also changing a few other things and getting it retuned, probly after the change of gears...

All things being equal, it shouldn't. But due to every one having Dyno dynamics gear and using shootout mode to give you a power run, then it most probably will.

ok so shouldnt really make a difference.. but off the subject how do i correct speedo changing to the 3.7s?

Wouldnt different ratios lead to different efficiency levels, and therefore, different results? If the tailshaft is spinning twice as fast at a given wheel speed, then there would be additional heat and loss somewhere in the driveline.. no ?

I was told that changing the diff ratio does affect it, as does changing to a stallie.
When this happens all you are left with is the 1/4 mile strip and a Moroso calculator.

Ahk so maybe it will drop the dyno reading... so if i got it tuned before the ratio change would i stuff the tune up wen i change them after the tune?

Ok then ill do it all before the retune and either way it should have a quicker quarter time it sucks tho because i would like to see if the injecters, fuel reg, and bigger t/b make a noticable increase in kw and torque

Youd think changing diff gears will change dyno results because you have say 160 kw at the flywheel and only 105 or whatever at the treads because it goes through gear box and diff which reduces the power due to the gears?

On a Dyno Dynamics ego inflation dyno you'll see a big change. On a real dyno you'll see a very small change. |

Im makin 161 at the wheels not the fly, and yeh my tuner uses a dyni dynamics one im pretty sure is ther many good tuners that use the 'proper dynos'?

At the end of the day, it doesn't what the dyno says. If the car is faster then thats all that counts.
