I've heard that the EBII XR6 was the fastest aussie sedan when it was released back in '92. Is this really true? What about the VN/VP SS? :wink: I'm after a second opinion on this because many people have said that the VN SS is very fast. Apparently some guy reckons his 'stock' auto VN SS did the quarter in 14.9 seconds - I find that hard to believe though.
What do you guys think?

Pretty sure that is correct. The original XR6 was quicker than the XR8's and Holden V8's.

VN SS's have been known to drop into the 13s with extractors, exhaust, 4.11s and a stall converter.

Not exactly a VN, or an EB, but still a fun comparison.

Those figures must be way off. Unless your telling me my stock auto EL fairy is almost a full second quicker then a VS SS and a ED XR6? I ran 16.2 in my EL fairy with 250,000kms on the clock so whats up with those figures.

I ran 16.2 (16.19 to be exact)
the VS/VR SS ran 17.0

17.0 minus 16.2 = 0.8 or nearly a second.

What school did you go to?

he's comparing it to the EB not your fairmont.
good ol' auto's ripping it up lol!
i think it was the EB2 manual XR6 that was the fastest n/a australian four door 6cyl sedan for a few years.
i'm not sure what is now.

I think a Hemi 265 would be right up there to.

XY GT phase 3 is faster:

# Performance:

# Power (DIN): 224kW (300bhp) @ 5400rpm. Note: Output was understated as 300bhp to satisfy insurers. Generally accepted as 350-380bhp
# Torque (DIN:) 515Nm (380lb-ft) @ 3400rpm

* Top Speed: 225km/h (142mph) @ 6150rpm with 3.25:1 differentail
* 0 - 60mph (0 - 100 km/h) - 6.4 seconds
* Standing 1/4 mile (400m) - 14.2 seconds

E49 charger:

Horse Power @ RPM: 302@5600
Curb Weight: 3010 lbs.
Top Speed: 132 mph
0-60 mph 6.1 seconds
0-100 mph 14.1 seconds
Quarter mile 14.4 seconds

Although a charger is a coupe not a sedan...

xygt wasnt a 6cyl, so that excludes it.
the e49 was a coupe.

And a McLaren F1 is quicker then all of them, but its not a local sedan that was released in 1992 either.
