Hey guys, i recently flushed out my cooling system as i noticed the temp gauge rising abit with the weather starting to warm up.

I used $35 nulon antifreeze and today being a very warm day im starting to get worried that i have i problem. It was usually on A-L and then it rose to M-A but today it even reached the R on NORMAL (N being the hottest).

Ill start by replacing the thermostat, but is there anything else i should look into? is my radiator stuffed?

I should also note that i think the extractors i recently installed could be effecting the temp..engine bay temps get extremely hot now!

drop a colder thermostat in see how it goes then time for a new radiator if it gets hot still and do the aircon modification to the wiring and see how it goes

I noticed the temperature increasing on my XH. Then I noticed results of a minor leak (didnt notice loss of fluid, though I was finding "damp" around the radiator) then after a little while I found a leak. Still didnt notice coolant missing though.

Anyhow required another radiator (not suitable for repair) and heating problem solved.

Regards,
Lyle

well i changed the thermostat today and went for a quick run (giving it abit) and it still peaks at M but seems to be dropping down to L which is good. So i think theres abit of air in the system..Ill check back after a few days of monitoring it..

oh and i heard running a colder thermostat is not good for the ecu, so will stay clear of that

Don't stress t much guys, the gauge is marked NORMAL, your in that range, all is normal

90-95 is roughly the correct operating temperature.

Mine used to sit on L with a stuffed heater tap and original thermostat.
With new items it sits on M or A. I would be worried if it crept up to N, and concerned if it got to O, but other than that, thats where theyre meant to be.

well its been hot lately and my issue seemed to go away.

I must add that i blew the heater tap yesterday(which coroded and spit the hose) and it got a very good flush (about 50l of water to get home) and i also changed the thermostat and put in some good quality anti freeze in

the thermo fans are also running good as i stood there and monitored them for a while and they seem to be doing their job.

Im kinda glad i did all this before summer, hopefully it will be hastle free the next couple of hot months.

fixed my problem too... it seems the person who owned the car before me was just running water through the cooling system dont know how long they were doing it for but my resvior was dirty and black i flushed the raditor and s**t just kept coming out i think it was blocked so ibought a second hand one from the wreckers and a new thermo from autobarn and she running so cool now going to get cold air induction to get it even cooler
