Have you bolted the gearbox mount up?

That engine is sitting low at the back in the first picture.

You are quite right. In this pic the gearbox wasnt on. Regrettably still the bonnet hits when the box is on. This was an early pic. Next time I am at the mates house I will take a pick, sideways, of the height with everything bolted up.

Im at a loss.

Is there any reason the EA box and converter wouldnt work?
Seems to be a bit of a rattle or something in it.

the ea box should work fine..
even though the engine is from a ef, other than a few bolt ons like manifold belt accessories the engines are pretty much the same...

I saw a photo on my mates phone of the EF k frame. The attachments are profoundly different.
That is the part the engine mount attaches to. On my car they are higher attach at a 45 degree angle.
The EF is lower and are almost flat. With just a 10 or 15 degree angle.
I'd be happy for anyone to look and tell me where it's wrong.

There really isn't anything I can change to
make it work. Short of changing the K frame.

I agree it should work as planned. Can't explain it.
If I could it wouldn't have cost me 100s more and loss of my air co. :(

yes the ef k frame, engine mount and bracket are different, but where they bolt to the block is the same..
what part of the engine is hitting the bonnet???
I don't get why you say it hits the bonnet and don't fit because it does...

all below were fitted with ea-ed engine mounts the same as you have
my old ea, with au and ef manifold fitted and no problems..

with the aircon if your using the ef belt set up with the ea manifold, you need to buy a xh ute belt tensioner and use the ea a/c pump bracket with the ef a/c pump, but you now need to change the a/c lines and evaporator to the eb2,ed or ef/el...

if you fit the ef manifold you just use all the accessories from the ef and swap over the a/c lines and evaporator to eb2-el ones..

otherwise, you fit all the ea accessories , eg..power steering pump, alternator, water pump, harmonic balancer and use the ea a/c pump..
