it drones because the 3" is to big on a std car..

but you can fit a resinator at the rear to help with the drone, if it already has a resinator you can fit a quieter mufler, next option would be put a 2 1/2" exhaust on it with a rear resinator...

Fit a turbo and it might quiet it down.

Does the drone dissapear once the car has warmed up or does it drone all the time?

i put a 2.5 inch one muffler system on my ef, it droned like mad at 100kph, so i bought a complete rear tail pipe with resonator and it is a lot quieter, but still growls when taking off, and i think 3" on a standard motor is over kill, 2.5 would be maximum.

Best bet would be to sell the 3' and buy a 2.5'...

but you have to have at least two mufflers on a 2.5 inch system

I've got a single muffler system that doesn't drone. It's loud and sometimes annoying but isn't droney. Though it does run an extra hot dog soon after cat and a res at the rear though. 2.5inch constant diameter but not 3. It's flanged with a dump at the diff before the extra res so I can remember how annoying it is every now and then.

In my experience I find the hot dog up front slows the gases down, the muffler quietens them up then the res takes out the drone.

in my system, they are different types, hence the different names, though they are the same thing essentially. the front one has more intruding internal perforations. The rear res is more a straight through res.
